NSo nearly done with the year and this is where I stand...
1. Utility jacket or soft moto (not leather)—found a RATE overlapping black and grey felted knit lambswool at Benetton last week
2. Pants and relaxed/BF jeans, perhaps white—bought white relaxed skinnies and medium-wash indigo highwaist relaxed straight jeans, and a pair of linen wide legs in ivory; recently a pair of microcheck smart-casual straight-leg pants and denim jeggings (5 pairs there, so counts as a very good year here, even if not trendy!)
3. Full skirt—lined linen hi-low hem in ivory, and a pleated plaid (2 there)
4. Chambray shirt—still no luck, got a nice dark red-and-blue plaid for winter instead
5. Harem or slouchy pants—not much luck, though got a couple of lightweight ones, as they haven't held up as well as hoped (2 of them, beige-black and white-blue prints)
6. Fluid tees + mixed media knits—plaid-print woven short tee (coordinates with skirt to make a two-piece dress), navy tunic-length fluid tee, chinoiserie-print tank, botanical print long-sleeve in summer; quilted drop-shoulder zipper-detail ultramarine top, a woven and knit mixed media Orla Kiely-ish print batwing tee in shades of blue and white, and a lace-trimmed black sweatshirt for winter (7 so not a bad innoculation in this category)
7. Soft shirts (not crisp, possibly patterned or solid blue/grey)—ridiculously, no luck except navy linen blend so semi-crunchy and a mandarin-collared cotton so not the best shape for me (2 items)
8. Dress or three (must be nursing-and toddler chasing-friendly, so steer clear of straight-up sheaths)—LBD (score!), no luck with day dresses
9. Loafers or other slip-on flats for slushy walks, patterned or coloured—white and cobalt pointy ballet flats
10. Tan or cognac booties—no luck
11. Bag ditto—nothing I liked in my budget
12. Waterproof travel- and baby-friendly bag (grey/navy/print)—purple laptop bag! who knew?
13. Walking shoes for travel—alas, was black but a bit quirky mary janeish, so okay for now
14. Blazer/tux-type jacket (white or grey?)—again, nothing I liked that fit body or budget
15. Sweaters, zipfront or pullovers—welted fuchsia cotton sweater, one acrylic pullover bought in desperation but nothing that suited my taste or purposes in wool or tech fabrics (2 items, and big holes)
Essential basics to replenish and accessories to add (not needs or must-haves):
#blue, grey and black tights; purple?—skipped these again
#brown slim, brown wide, grey/ink slim, patterned slimmish belts—skipped again, alas
#statement necklaces, bib and pendant—hmm, the tot is not ready
# coloured thermal knits or oatmeal (I am not a neat dresser so this stuff can peek out)—magenta tissue-weight thermal t-shirt
Wildcards!
1. Tan sandals
2. Printed white and pink sneakers
3. Bone sandals
4. Bought 3 cheaper Indian tunics to partner old Indian tights and salwars that were languishing, but not happy with the quality at all (the nice ones I liked were not nursing or toddler-friendly
5. One long anarkali-style Indian tunic
6. Black stretchy pencil skirt
Did buy some warm nightwear and 3 pairs of socks which I don't count towards the total, as being too essential/basic to budget
So budget and shopping opportunities being scarce, this whole list actually went over the target at 33 items but many bare categories and underrepresented areas.
Must fill holes and stick to quality over quantity better next year.
