I will be attending a formal "black tie" event in June. I have my old standby black long silk crepe skirt, a cami for under my new sequin jacket -photo 1. My old 3 inch heel satin evening sandals are tired and boring, so this year I thought I would invest in something new. since these get worn only once a year I am thinking something that can go to semi formal and other occasions too. What do you think of something like the ones below-I want comfort as there will be a lot of indoor standing and walking, not frumpy or old lady. Not a fan of wedgies as I think they look less formal,,but maybe the block heels will work. What do you think? 2 and 4 are in the $80.00 price range and doable, 3 is at Nordies and about $500.00, but there are similar ones for much less.

Pic 4. Is too blurry for me to see so it might work but I can't tell. If you can find something similar to 3 for a reasonable price that's my vote. Pic 1 looks too casual even with the pretty heel.

That's a beautiful jacket! Maybe you can find a silver shoe that will pick up some of the sparkle. I'm not a huge proponent of black shoes with an all black outfit but the first shoe does not seem formal enough due to the buckle and wooden heel. The third shoe picture is too small for me to see so I can't make out the material of the heel. The 2nd shoe seems more fitting for the occassion and I love the shine, is it patent leather?

I know block heels are all the rage now but I haven't wrapped my brain around them yet, they're growing on me for casual attire but I would rather go with a kitten heel if I was looking for comfort in a formal look.

Yes to the shoes! A brilliant idea. I like the idea of them with the topper a whole lot.

Without reading the details, I preferred the shoes in pic #3. Then reading that they are $500, I wouldn't buy them. I would pay $500 for shoes or boots that I would get a lot of wear out of, not a special event shoe. If the other two don't work, I'd keep looking.

For a formal occasion, I like #3 the best (I'm also having problems seeing #4).

The Ferragamos are truly fabulous (and known to be comfortable when you get the right fit). I can see them getting a lot of use. The 1st pair maybe not formal enough, and the last seem like they have potential but maybe not as much non-formal wear uses.

Always trying.....I came across this shoes accidently -and thought of you, don't really know anything about this brand other than its a sister store to H&M, reasonably priced, closed toe so you may find you get more wear out of them than a sandal (although if I recall your from a warm climate).

KKards-thanks. I am now considering something like those. I will get a lot more wear out of something withmore foot coverage. In my desert like climate even in the summer the nights are cool, and also AC in hotel banquet rooms it can be cool enough sometimes to make bare tootsies uncomfortable.

I like 3 in your picks, and the ones kkards found, too! Versatility is good. I think what makes these look dressier (i.e., nice for your formal occasion) is the patent leather heel--that's something to keep in mind. They'll still work for daytime occasions, too.

Like JAileen, I much preferred pic 3, till I read the prices! Special occasions are rare in my life, I don't like spending a lot of money for one or two wears.....but I won't wear uncomfortable shoes either!
I like kkards find, too. I think the heel colour and narrow strap increase the style quotient.
