Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Shoe Inventory, Fall/Winter Edition

I went on a bit of a spree with my boots and shoes earlier this season, and realized I needed to take a step back and assess what I had.

Turns out, I think I think I have all the shoes I need -- and amazingly, all that I *want* -- for this fall and winter. !!! So I've put myself on a shoe shopping ban until the spring, because I definitely will need to replenish that and my summer sandal supply.

Here is my complete inventory of the fall/winter set. Um, is 46 pairs a lot? ;-)

P.S. The cat in the first shot is my sweet old Sophie. She doesn't often like to be in camera range, unlike that attention-hog, George. :)

WOW - major shoe envy here! Love the brogues, the red patent heels, the plum patent lined weatherproof boots (La Canadienne), and, and, and... !!!

Good job, KristenKP - I have such a scary small collection compared to you - but I may post pix soon, and you can shop vicariously through me as I attempt to fill in the holes in my shoe wardrobe. ;-)

Wow, I'm so glad you did this, and you must've been reading my mind, because just yesterday I was thinking:

"I wish I had Kristen to go shoe-shopping with me."

and

"I would love to see her entire inventory of shoes, to get ideas where I could fill in."

LOL - I'm serious!!! I have long loved your taste in shoes.

Looking over this, I now see that you have several pairs of heeled oxfords in gray, black, brown, burgundy etc. That gives me the motivation to go back today and purchase the Ann Klein black suede and patent oxfords I tried on yesterday!! They were the only shoes I tried on that I instantly loved. But, I passed them up thinking one pair was enough. :-(

You're inspiring me to count and photograph my shoes so I can get ideas from the gang! Great idea.

I am in total awe of your shoe collection. You have more fall/winter shoes than I do total shoes. Color me totally green with envy.

That's a great collection. I am still growing out of shoes faster than I can acquire them.

Oh my, that is quite the (beautiful) collection Kristen. Do you know instantly in the morning what shoes to wear?

All I can say is wow. Beautiful shoe collection. How do you feel about your decision to go on a shoe shopping ban? Does it seem good or like it will be hard?

What an amazing shoe collection! I will say that I used to think that booties and oxfords were just plain ugly...until I saw you wearing them so well. You have totally changed my mind!

Wow, thanks all! Funny, that blog post has been my most popular to date; everyone loves shoes, it appears. :)

Shiny, wow, that's really flattering! I am often loaned out by my friends to join them shoe-shopping even if I'm not buying myself. But the funny thing is, I found most of mine because of my Shopping Friend! She's really the shoe expert, which is appropriate because she's working at a shoe store now. Many, many, many happy women are leaving her store these days, I well imagine; she's great at showing people why a certain shoe works or doesn't, and she has a great eye for finding ones I used to walk right by. I learned a lot from her.

I also have to give props to Kyle; she had those Franco Sarto patent booties last year too, and when I saw hers in burgundy I scooped them up for my second pair too. I wear one or the other of those all the time, so I definitely don't think you need to limit yourself to one of those types if you don't want. :) They're the kind that will stay in style for a long time, I think.

R&J, I don't always know which shoes I will wear each day, but I do rotate them so I don't repeat day after day. Sometimes I try to build an outfit from the shoes up, but that doesn't always work. But I keep trying!
