Thanks April! I was feeling perfectly fine and healthy when Jean was over. It was later that night, when we hit Home Depot for paint chips (but they don't have Benjamin Moore), and I thought I was having an allergic reaction or something to the dust in the air. Chest pains, cough ... all came on very suddenly. Next morning I woke up with headache, worsening cough, muscle aches and high fever. DH and the kids are fine - it's just me so far so maybe it's not that contagious. I seem to be on the mend now though (just still coughing quite a bit and still running a slight temp).

Jean is GREAT!! She is the decorating consultant equivalent of Angie! I am so thrilled with the plan she came up with. I would never have thought of it on my own in a million years. It just sucks I can't get out to the paint store fast enough. Of course my brother and his family are coming to visit next week, so we won't be painting until July. But I can't wait!

Shiny, you look great as always (I LOVE lavender on you), and I hope you feel better soon!

Most of all, I am awfully jealous of you - Jean is picking the colors for your house! Maybe she'll consider a trip to Israel ...

Shiny, I love the graphic tee look on you. It's a really fun look that's so now. My hubby is coordinating a music festival next weekend - all improvised music and spoken word. They ran a piece on it in our local paper today: http://www.sacbee.com/music/story/1959384.html (My husband is Ross.) I'm soooo proud. Sorry to gush but I'm just so thrilled with what he's accomplished in two short years. In any case, I want to find some fun but appropriately avant (for me at least) looks for the festival. I definitely think a graphic tee look will fit the bill. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

I think the other outfits are great, too. I'm sorry to hear that you're not feel well. The painting sounds so exciting. We painted a couple years ago - went out on a limb with colors in the blue and orange family. It sounds wild but turned out so great and REMADE the house, seriously. I'm certain that with Jean's expert eye, you'll have a similarly transformative experience. And yes, I'm envious you can hang out with Jean.

I am also envious that you have your daughter's closet to raid for graphic tees. I think they look so fresh and fun on you!

REALLY love the mix and match of styles with Wednesday's outfit: the classic pearls and sheath, with the casual breeziness of the faded denim jacket, with the funky bag in the summery color, with the glam/summery look of the silver wedges. It really all works together so well!

The Swanns, imo, are what pull Thursday's together perfectly. I have one of those black-and-white patterned cardigans, and it's tough to pull off because the boldness of the pattern keeps all attention focused on it. But the two-tone Swanns give you balance against that on the bottom. Nicely done.

I truly can't pick a favorite. You look so great all week - the graphic tee look is cute, and I love your "orphan" top, especially with the cardigan. I love how you look stunning in the sheath dress but comfortably casual with the denim jacket and wedges. And your flirty gray skirt is perfect.

I think your BR jacket gives the graphic tee such a sophisticated edge, you could totally wear that when your daughters are around- just doesn't have that teen vibe. But you do look cute as all get out.

loved your outfits, all of them. A great range too from classy-sophisticated to more fun but very put-together-fab. My favorite was the first, with the brown/aubergine sweater over the lavender ruffle top and the grey skirt with the boots. What a fantastic combo, I LOVED it! That's what I call chic :-)

I was wondering if you've ever thought about a different hairstyle? I love the bob you've got and you look great, so perhaps this is trying to improve perfection ;). But was just wondering if something more angled/more layers and probably a lot shorter with a lot less weight on the left side (right side in the pictures) would work on you, too? Just throwing that out there (been looking at a lot of hair cuts lately as I'm due for a cut and a color change!). I think you could totally rock a shorter 'do....maybe even burgundy/blond hahahahahaha ;)...

Amy, I do wear that black/white cardi with red underneath - my favorite way to wear it.

As for the hairstyle, YES, I actually prefer it shorter and funkier!!! I want it PlanetShiny. :-)

I have had it shorter in the past, but my hairdresser lately doesn't seem to be hearing me when I say I want it shorter. This is the second cut in a row where I said I want it really short in the back, dramatically angled towards the front... and it's not.

He's really good and I do trust him even if he's opinionated ... the only thing I can think of is that he's trying to evolve me and keep me ahead of the trend? I had the Pob before, now Kate of Jon and Kate+8 has that cut (in a bad way, the mullet stuff in the back is awful!)... so I think he's trying to do something different. Which I get. When I first found him, I had a horrible martha stewart 'do and I we connected because he understood I may be 40ish but I'm not ready for conservative.

Can you suggest a short funky do that's not the Pob and not Kate+8, that would work for me? I'm open to suggestions!

Shiny, great week! My favorite outfit is the graphic t-shirt. I saw it and I literally thought, "Shiny is so cool-looking." You look really youthful and in touch, but still completely age appropriate. I just love it!
