I had two themes this past week:

- neutrals
- boyfriend-length cardigans

1) Sat Feb 21 - I almost forgot to take a photo, hence no shoes. I had a laid back Saturday and this is what I wore to run errands and do a little shopping at the mall. Typical "Shiny" uniform of red BR cowl neck tee, black BR cardi, COH bootcut jeans, silver ATL necklace. Nothing amazing here! When I go clothes shopping, I really don't like to wear jeans-tucked-into-boots because it's too much wrangling around in the dressing room, so I opt instead for bootcuts.

2) Sun Feb 22 - wore this to go out to brunch. I have been dying to try the long boyfriend-length cardigan, and I picked up two on sale at BR on Saturday. This is one of them. I am not sure it is my look. I feel... too short in this. What do you think? BR cardi, BR turquoise knit faux-wrap top, AT necklace, UO skinnies, not sure what brand wedge boots.

3) Mon Feb 23 - did not go out (too busy at work)

4) Tues Feb 24 - the other new boyfriend length cardi. I was hoping this one would work over a wrap dress I have, but I'm afraid it isn't quite right. Again, I feel short and shapeless in this. This cardi does not work at all with a belt - I did try! The belt doesn't sit right. This blouse really doesn't sit right under it either. BR blouse, BR cardi, UO skinnies, unknown wedge booties.

5) Wed Feb 25 - this is my favorite outfit of the week. I wore this to go into the office. Comparing this to the bf cardis, I really think that this is more my look, more the right proportion for my figure. (Even if I get bored of this "uniform/formula"). I feel I have a waist and I am more long-legged looking. The cardi is new - BR. Top is unknown. ATL necklace, COH Huttons, SW metallic booties, Coach purse.

6) Thurs Feb 26 - I bought this BR blouse to go under the grey/black cardi show on Wednesday - they look great together. I love this blouse, it's very floaty and silky and different. The jacket (Necessary Objects) is also new - I bought it at a little shop near my daughter's guitar lessons. I saw it a few weeks ago, resisted, then thought about it for three weeks, and finally decided to go for it. I think I can have a lot of fun with this jacket. I was going to wear this outfit with skinnies, because the blouse is long enough for them, but it felt wrong somehow for daytime, so I changed into COH straight legs instead, which I like paired with the SW metallic booties.

7) Sat Feb 28 - wore this to go to a cultural event with the family. Some of you may remember this top (AT) and cardi (Anthropologie) combo from last spring. I paired it with the UO skinnies and wedge boots to be different, and this suede purse is Nine West. I've had it for a long while, but always forget about it. It's a great size for a purse for petite me, I think. I wore a camel coat over this.

8) Sun Mar 1 - Saw this pic and ran back in to swap the white cami for a black one. So ignore the white cami peeking through!

I think you look great all week. I think the short sleeved boyfriend cardi might be a bit too long. The black one looks really good! I also love the look on Thursday, your new jacket is perfect.

what a great week! First of all, I think the first boyfriend cami outfit is really cute. You don't look short to me at all. In fact, it may be my most favorite outfit of the week! I really like the colors of Sat, Feb 28th outfit, very spring and fun!

You always look great! I also think my favorite is the one that you like the best, I agree about the proportions being just right for you. That being said I also think that you can get away with the boyfriend cardigan length. I like the outfit on Sunday but might try a thinner belt with a chunkier necklace. Great week!!

Another great week! I liked the black boyfriend cardi better than the taupe; I think it's the sleeve length that doesn't work with your proportions. I loved the peachy pink of that one blouse. Very pretty!

I actually like both BF cardis on you, I think they work well. My favorite is Saturday though, that color is so pretty on you.

Thanks everyone. Julijuli, I am never sure what the length for this sort of cardi is supposed to be! I figured the black one is probably the typical bf length, while the brown one is more like the length of a shirt-dress-over-skinnies, which is another look I have trouble with.

I think that's because my legs are relatively short (they are actually proportionate to my body, but most people have longer legs than that). I really had to add heeled boots to get the Sunday look to be passable at all. With flats it looked all wrong. And it absolutely needed a belt - I have pics without a belt to prove it.

I actually think the black cardi looks best with a form-fitting, waist defining top underneath, and then worn unbuttoned, with my hands shoved into the pockets. It's more of a casual, laid back weekend look. I will have to experiment some more. But I just feel sort of .... schlumpy... in it.

Kristen - that blouse is actually orange. It's one of the shades of orange I can wear. I do love that blouse - the color always cheers me up for some reason.

GG - thanks for the validation of my instincts! I do get bored with the same-old formula all the time, but if it works, it works, right? I like the idea of a chunkier necklace. That top underneath and that necklace were a last-minute whim, as my hubby's patience was wearing thin waiting for me to get dressed. He did like this outfit though - said I looked "Sunday brunch appropriate." Hee hee.

Hi Shiny - what's the password?

I have the same thoughts about what I think is becoming my uniform (skirt, belt, cardigan/sweater) but it's the one that I feel most updated in and get the most compliments so why not.

I would rather have 3-4 feel good outfits that know work rather than mis match "does this work"? YLF is helping me get there!

Good for you for trying something new. I liked your outfits with color best. That orange blouse is beautiful. I'm not sure about the bf cardis. They do have a tendency to make legs look short, IMO, but they feel so comfy when you wear them!

To echo Christine, I especially like the outfits with color next to your face. I also like how the shades of grey (in your top on Thurs. and cardigan on Wed.) you chose look super classy and work with your skin tone without washing you out.

Shiny, I agree with your instincts. I prefer the shorter cardi look on you, although the belted bf isn't bad. I have been leery of the bf cardi for the same reasons you mention, and I think I was right to avoid that look. As we say here in the sticks, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
