Shiny - some august outfits

I have been lazy about taking photos. Also I have been content to recycle outfits over and over, since we're having such a short summer. At any rate, it continues to be the "Summer of the Dress" for me.

You may remember I posted a pic of this ATL LBD last summer - wearing it with bronze me-too's and a silver necklace my DH gave me for my bday - back when I was packing for Paris. So this dress is not new, but I was inspired to style it with this ON necklace and the beige/gold sandals. So simple, yet cool for the nearly 100% humidity we had yesterday.

Question: I'm curious, would you call these cap sleeves?

So excited about this bag!!! I love it. I already wore it to work this week (didn't take a pic of that outfit). I suspect I'll get a lot of use out of it. It's a good neutral. Thrilled that it goes well with black - don't you think? And I think the scale is just right for little old me - agree?

I was a little dubious about the gold bling but since I'm seeing so much gold out there for fall, I figured it's okay to have a bag with shiny gold hardware.

3) Outfit I wore to an outdoor concert on a chilly summer night:

It's a variation on outfits you've seen me wear before, but I kinda liked the combo of layering black over black. (This vest incidentally has a white back to it).

Bonus pick of my DD - who was thrilled you all approved of her pattern mixing outfit. :-)

Sorry it's not the best pose to see the fit. Isn't the lining, which you can see at the cuff, a cute touch?

And that hat! We saw it and knew instantly it was for DD. She loves zippers.

You two look fabulous! I love the black dress and adding white accents in for a more summery look is a great idea. DD looks really adorable in her jacket and hat.

Your concert outfit looks very hip, I love the dark grey vest with a black top.

Shiny, I love your new bag.

With regards to the sleeves on the dress they remind me of sleeves on muscle vests but in this instance they are v. elegant.

I am always amazed by how flattering the vest look with jeans appears to be on everyone. Dawn wore a flower on hers which looked lush and your daughter looks very glamourous grunge in the photos.

Was the concert the one you mentioned on your birthday thread?

Angie, now I feel bad that I rarely wear this black dress. You've got me wondering why that is.

I nearly wore it to the office last week. It was 100 degrees out with very high humidity. I had it paired with that necklace, a cami, the new NAS purse, and pretty textured pumps in a reddish-brown. But, I changed last minute, due to a major case of the doubts. Then of course as I'm leaving the office - sweltering in my jeans - I see a coworker wearing a similar LBD and looking cool, stylish and comfortable.

Would you consider this office appropriate - if it had a cami underneath? And perhaps a cardigan or jacket over top for the AC? Or does it show off too many curves?

I'm curious ... did anyone answer the question if these are cap sleeves? I like them on you, whatever they are. :)

The vest over the sleeveless is such a good look with style and structure for a summer evening, and a great way to wear a black vest in summer. Good idea.
