Shell - Week of 9/29

This week was very...long! Sometimes over the summer I forget how busy and stressful school actually is! I felt a little blah all week, but the pictures actually don't look so bad. I guess I'm just stressed out with school already!

Monday
http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....020583.jpg

Tank - H&M
Sweater - Gap
Jeans - BR
Flats - Target
Beads - Forever 21

after seeing the photos, i thought it needed a final punch of color. so, out comes the green belt. http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....020588.jpg yay or nay on the belt?

Tuesday
http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....020591.jpg

Cami - Express
Tank - H&M
Sweater - Gap
Jeans - BR
Flats - Target
Belt - Boston Store

I must have been on a belt kick! In retrospect, I probably would have worn a necklace, but I wasn't sure if it would compete to much with the belt. also, not sure what color i would have chosen. perhaps a turquoise beaded necklace. any other suggestions?

Wednesday

Cami - Express
Sweater - Kohls
Jeans - Gap
Necklace - Marshall Fields

Don't fret - I didn't wear sandals all day! I was just too lazy to put my flats back on. i think this was another leopard print shoe day. oh, and i had to keep broccoli in b/c it's so rare to get a picture of him with his eyes open. and it kinda looks like he's posing!

and here's our little pineapple (she felt a little left out not having her picture posted): http://www.flickr.com/photos/3.....831704788/

Thursday
http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....020601.jpg

Cami - Express
Shirt - Gap
Sweater - BR
Jeans - BR
Flats - American Eagle
Necklace - Marshall Field's

Second day in a row, I must love this necklace :) Actually, it is indeed my favorite. Ok, random necklace story, which I may have told before: i was wearing this necklace with a rather bland outfit one day on a trip (i think i was just wearing a black s/s top and jeans). my family and i were walking around to all these little shops in this quaint town, and at literally every store (probably about five or six in total), the shop owners commented on the necklace. that's when i discovered that a statement necklace can totally elevate an outfit!

Friday

Cami - Express
Blouse - BR
Jeans - BR
Necklace - vintage via great aunt

Again, i wore different shoes all day, but i was in a hurry to take this photo. hence the goofy face.

I love this necklace! http://i143.photobucket.com/al.....020631.jpg It's actually a locket, but I've yet to figure out what to put in it. Obviously a picture, but I haven't settled on one yet. :)

Sunday

This is my "grubby" outfit, but thought I'd share for kicks and giggles. My fiance and I went geocaching (which is basically an outdoor treasure hunt w/ a gps), so i didn't want to wear anything nice.

Here are a couple photos of us "in action"...

As usual, I think you look great every day. On Monday, I vote for no belt. But I'm not as bold when it comes to color as you are. So that may be a personal preference. I love your necklace, too. It's so great.

I haven't tried geocaching, but it sounds so fun. What was in the box?

Your cats are adorable.

Shell, it may have been a stressful week but you went through it stylishly as always. I prefer Mondays outfit without the belt -- like the orange and pink combination. I wonder if dangly earrings to pick up the silver of the belt but not compete the way a necklace might have worked well for the Tuesday outfit. I can't remember if you wear big earrings -- I always think of your great necklaces. You look cute in your grubbies! And such darling kitties!

you are so adorable. I want to go geocaching--

I vote nay on Mondays belt but I love all the color!

You are a style inspiration.

wow, your layers & accessories are gorgeous! they complement each other so well :) I really like your Friday look, it resonates sophistication. I think wraps really accentuate your curves!

wow - definitely didn't realize til now that my title is way off :) should have been the week of 9/22.

anyway, inside the cache, there were little trinkets, like playing cards or stickers. there's also a little notepad where you sign your username and a note about your visit, if you took or left anything in the cache, etc. then you log your visit on their website, geocaching.com. it's a lot of fun unless you can't find a cache - then it haunts you until you go back again! we tried one on sunday that basically pointed us to the middle of lake michigan. i have a feeling our gps was acting up slightly :)

Shell - a fantastically stylish week as usual. I vote for not belt too - not because belts normally don't look great on you - the color works too. But I think the horizontal band of the top and the horizontal belt so close above it is one horizontal line too many. How cool that you're into geo caching. A friend of mine is very very much into it as well and has been all over the world pursuing it.

Hi Shell,
Haven't read the other replies yet - a first for me
I think Monday's outfit was better without the belt - But Tuesday's looked good with a belt.
What an adorable kitten!
... just come back to this after numerous interruptions to say I loved the wrap blouse - not sure what day. Wish I could wear blouses like that.
I thought even your "grubby" outfit looked OK!

Hi Shell...You look smashing! Love your glasses! 8')

I prefer no belt in the first photo. I like the green added to the colors, but the belt interrupted your torso line. Maybe a green necklace would have given you that third color you were after?

I do like the belt in the second photo. I think because silver is more neutral--it didn't mess up the visual line.

I like how you paired two shades of the same color without looking matchy ((in the third outfit). I am always afraid that when I wear two shades of the same color that I'm looking like a JCPenney model. (which you def. do not!) What tips can you give me to succesfully wearing 2 different shades of the same color.

I love the cropped cardi outfit. It gives you a teeny tiny waist! I think this is my favorite outfit of the whole week.

You could put a photo of me in your locket! ;)

I like your geocaching outfit too. You are young and dressing appropriately for the activity. Geocaching sounds like Letter Boxing--which is treasure hunting w/out a GPS. A little less technical--but my kids think it's pretty fun. My town has a whole Letter Boxing campaign that the schools get involved in.

Shell, gorgeous outfits the whole week! You have such a knack for a colors! I also prefer the first outfit without the belt.

Your kitties are adorable and it looks like you had a lot of fun on Sunday.

The Layering Queen strikes again! LOVE Monday's outfit (without the belt), though I'd vote for a shorter necklace (that falls above the neckline of your top), possibly in another color, such as the green (I think Nicole suggested that too). Geocaching sounds fun! DH has a GPS, and I bet he'd love it!

Shell, another stellar week. My favorite is the cropped cardigan outfit. I love the green shoes! I know it's been mentioned before, but you are SO good with colors! What are you studying in school, if you don't mind me asking?

Btw...such cute kitties!

You're week in review always leaves me feeling refreshed. You have such a knack for putting your outfits together! I love your use of color! I think you looked great all week.

Shell, you always look great. I vote for no on the belt for outfit 1 too. Cropped cardis look good on you!

Anyway, I just had to say that Broccoli and Pineapple are the cutest! Pineapple makes me want a kitten again, but I have two cats in our home and that is more than enough as you know.

How did you pick their names? Its hilarious, but very unique!

Great outfits! You do an awesome job of mixing different colors. I LOVE Monday's outfit. The combination of colors is great and I love the style of that tank. Personally I like it best without the belt. Speaking of, I do love the metallic belt from Tuesday. It really adds to the outfit.

thanks for all the lovely comments and suggestions! glad i didn't wear the green belt that day :) i like the idea of a green necklace - now i just have to find one! i have a plan to make one though out of an old earring that lost its mate - so stay tuned :)

nicole, i tend to choose my color combos based on whether they are "warm" or "cool". So i think as long as you stay within those groups, you can pair slightly different shades of the same color. if i remember correctly, you paired a coral and pink or orange or something (grr..bad memory!) and you looked fabulous!

muequita, yes, two kitties are more than a handful! when my fiance and i were brainstorming for kitty names last year, i fell in love with the name broccoli! so, of course, his sister had to be cauliflower. unfortunately, we had to put her down early this summer. however, a couple months ago we decided to take a look for a new kitty and just fell in love with this one! she has the cutest pink nose, so of course that sealed it for me (i love pink!). anyway, we decided to stick to our food theme and were going through a bunch of random fruits (i think we considered mango, banana, and peapod), but pineapple just seemed right. someday when we end up getting a dog, we're thinking cilantro, cheddar, or sgt. pepper. what can i say? we like food :P

BEAUTIFUL, Shell! You wear orange SO well! I love it with pink. Always pretty in pink! A fab, fab week!

Pineapple is so utterly adorable, I can barely stand it!

I'm going to refer to your photos to dig my way out of my black phase, Shell. That's a great, simple tip about cool with cool, warm with warm. So creative! So lovely!

You're always so cheerful and look it. I laughed at the names of your pets.
How interesting that you are studying construction management.
