Shell - Week of 8/26

So, I decided to post my outfits from this week - it was finally somewhat cool outside so I didn't feel as gross and sweaty by the end of the day.

I also decided to leave my head on this week - so no making fun of my goofy faces!

Monday
Out of town, so no photos posted. Can't even remember what I was wearing, so no details on that day

i kind of adore this sweater - very comfy! i think it's the lightweight merino sweater from their fall collection.

i know, i know - cap sleeves aren't my look - i would've worn a sweater over this, but it was just too hot. plus, i woke up a wee bit late today, which i know is no excuse for bad fashion, but im gonna try using it anyway

so, im debating whether to keep the bows on these or not. my inclination is to take off the bow on righty b/c it's a bit wonky. but i could easily fix it to make it straight (and of course add lefty back on). what do y'all think?

I'm in a bit of a hurry here but I just wanted to say that the first outfit is absolutely adorable and I love everything about it. I'll get to the rest when I get back!

Shell -- you look great in all the outfits. I especially like the polka dot top (including with the cardigan) and the belted ruffled top. You have the best accessories -- love the vintage necklace from your great aunt. You inspire me to figure out how to accessorize better. And kitty gets a 10!!

PS I know what you mean about the funny faces. I felt so awkward when I first took photos with my face included!

Shell, you have such a knack for colors. I really like the cardigan with the black and white polka-dot blouse. I love your light-weight merino sweater too. As for the shoes, I think the bows add a little something. I might keep them (and put the one back on lefty).

I like the wedges (without the ankle wraps) with your shorts. The ankle wrap wedges are nice too. Very nice week. You looked super!

I love Monday, Thursday and Friday after work, the cap sleeve didn't bother me at all. I also like Friday's outfit with the wedge w/o wraps and the flats. I vote to take off the bows but that might be just me because my style is "simple chic". I love the ways you use accessories, they complete your looks perfectly!

I love the polka dot top on you. I think it's great with red cardi, but I'm not very objective when it comes to red because it's one of my favorite accent colors I also think you're made for big necklaces like the sort you're wearing in these pics. They fit you so well, I'm a little jealous

Also, hello Broccoli! Hee, this remind me, my old hairstylist had an iguana named Broccoli.

You have a great eye for color and accessories. I love the cardi with the top in the first photo. Nice combo. The ruffled blouse looks beautiful belted. I'd lose teh bows...but that's a personal thing--I don't really dig bows on shoes.

Shell, you looked great in all the outfits. The cap sleeves on Thursday's top looked fine to me. Friday's first outfit with the ruffled blouse was my favorite of the bunch, but I vote to lose the shoe bows. They seem too small or too much of a contrast.
For shoes with the shorts I vote for the 2nd option (wedges, no ankle wrap). What a great week! Your use of accessories and color is an inspiration. I may copy your use of a pin with a sleeveless shell. My pins don't get out much and I'd never thought of wearing one this way. Thank you for posting your photos.

Tuesday's look is great. Fun, flirty, young.
Wednesday rocks. Love the pink and teal. Gorgeous on you. The leopard flats are perfect in an unexpected way.
Thursday is a great silhouette. But I definitely like you better in vibrant rather than muted tones.
Friday:The ruffled blouse with the belt is a lovely silhouette for you. I would trademark it if I were you. And the blouse itself is beautiful, too.
As for casual, I prefer the leopard flats by far. The wedges are nice. The ankle straps don't do it for me.
I would never have thought to try a pin with a casual outfit. You make it work.

I glanced at a few other outfits from your album (since I missed earlier postings while I was on vacation) and love LOVE the 8/11 one with the vest and the ruffles and the green cardi. Awesome.

Shell, I love it when you post your pictures. I always get ideas. I think the first outfit is great. The cardigan looks wonderful. It's probably my favorite outfit of the week. You look great in all the others too but this one really pops. I love the ruffle top. I hope you keep it. On the loafers, I like the bows on but do think that could be kind of limiting to do so. It's a really preppy look. I vote for the wedges (picture number 2) for the shorts.

Shell, I love your style!! Colorful and polished, yet casual and age-appropriate. I must've missed the other times you've posted on here. It's nice to see someone close in age (I'm almost 22) - no offense to the other beautiful ladies, but I don't want to dress like I'm 30 just yet, so some inspiration is always welcome.

I LOVE your first outfit with the red cardi for sure! You have such CUTE shoes with all your outfits, especially the leopard print and green ones. I vote for the flats with the shorts - perfect.

I missed this earlier but I'm going to answer without first reading everyone else's replies.... not necessarily in order:

- The white ruffle blouse from the Limited is absolute KILLER. Love, love, love ths on you!

- Flip-flops! Oh my, you have this *fabulous* collection of shoes and you wore flip-flops? LOL. Seriously. All the shoes are fab and I'd own any of them myself in a heartbeat. Ditch the flip-flops and wear them only around the house/yard.

- The clamdiggers are perfect fit; this would be great to duplicate - in a darker wash.

- The vintage pin!!! I gasped! It's gorgeous! You're so lucky to have been gifted this. I just read an article somewhere that said pins are in this year - big pins like this - and also wearing more than one at a time. So have a lot of fun with this pin this season.

- My least favorite is the Gap tee shirt. Not because of the cap sleeves so much... just because compared to your other looks, it's boring. See outfit number one with the adorable polka dot blouse, and that outfit with the white ruffle blouse... weren't you just as cool and comfy in those, as the Gap tee?

(not that I'm completely anti-Gap tee shirt.... if a nice color and neckline and in perfect shape they can work well as a layering piece... esp if you are on a budget).

- Love the look with the cardi! You know I'm a fan of cropped cardi's. This is a great look for you.

My favorites: torn between the cardi outfit and the white ruffly blouse...

hey everyone - thanks for all your comments and suggestions! I was actually thinking this week was kind of a drab fashion week (laundry day was coming up soon, so i was scrambling for clean clothes), so I'm glad to hear y'all thought it was quite the opposite!

my grandma gave me my great-aunt's jewelry box when i was younger so i'd have jewelry to use when i played dress-up. over the last few years, when i'd stop back at my parent's house, i'd rifle through the jewelry box to see if any of the pieces were back in fashion. every year, i'd take a look in the box, and there'd be a few pieces that i just had to take back with me! well, a couple weeks ago, i decided i loved pretty much everything in the box! so i took the whole thing with me! there are tons of pins, clip-on earrings (which i'm not sure i'll wear, but i might try to think of another way to wear them besides on my ear), necklaces, and bracelets.

lena, i'm not entirely sure what type of bird - my fiance and i were thinking perhaps a roadrunner.

thanks everyone for the feedback on the shoes w/ clamdiggers! i guess i was hesitant to wear flats with them because i thought they made my legs look short. i thought flip-flops were pretty much the only shoe that looked decent with clamdiggers. silly me to be fair, i was just heading over to my fiance's house to help pack for our weekend vacation. so, maybe that justifies me wearing them?

Love all your outfits, Shell! Love the polka dot shirt and the white ruffly shirt too! You never looked boring because your color combos were bright and funky or you had on shirts with interesting details or patterns.

Oh yeah, you have inspired me to use a ribbon like a belt. Love that idea! I was browsing through your older pics and saw you wearing one so thanks!

Shell - you can try the clip on earrings on the front of shoes, especially ballet flats if they don't rub on your skin the wrong way. They can really change and perk up your flats. Loved hearing the story of your jewellery box - it sounds like the gift that keeps on giving and has sentimental value to boot!
