Sheath dress length

Hi Everyone!

I have a couple of evening weddings to attend and am attempting to wear a color instead of my usual (safe) black. This style is a total departure for me. I usually wear empire style dresses with more of an a-line flair. I've been watching all of you YLF'ers step out of the box and felt inspired to try something new. (That being said, I'm not going to be heartbroken if it gets a thumbs down. I still have a black dress that I can fall back on.)

My questions are does this style work for my rectangular shape and do I need to get it shortened. The first two pics show it pinned up and the next two show it unaltered. DD#1 says it looks better shorter and DD#2 says it looks better longer. What are your thoughts?

Thank you so much! When I tried it on I thought it was okay but I started second guessing after looking at some of you gorgeous people in your sheaths. The overall length is 38" from top to bottom which was close to the measurement for a petite sheath online at Nordstrom's (which I think was 39.5".) I love the color and the price was right so it looks like for once, I will not show up in black! Thanks again!

Wow, you look stunning! What a great color on you. I like both lengths, and think you can pull off either easily, but for this sort of dress (a little more formal), I also lean towards the longer length. It's not super long and still shows a hint of knee. Hits at a nice place. Enjoy the weddings!
