Shawls? ETA: For Janet, pic of sock basket ;)

All right. Shall I do it? Shall I get rid of all the pashmina shawls - well all my shawls - since I almost almost never wear them? Too fussy and not warm enough, but once in a blue moon they make an outfit. It would free some room up for my giant sock collection...

Does it have to be all? I have two shawls that I keep, one warm woollen red one (with an Olive Oil on it) and one lighter weight turquoise one. The red one I will probably keep for a very long time because there are just some days when you need a bit of fun and she definitely makes the outfit and the turquoise one does work well as a scarf but can provide warmth when needed. I do love the sound of your sock collection!

Maybe so--

I had collected too. Some pashmina- type, some dressier. Thought if I had a range, I'd be " covered" for any occasion.
But I'm just about done with any sleeveless or chilly dress for dressy
events and trying to keep a wrap on.
There are 2 pashmina- type situations I stiil may enjoy.
1) airplane. As added- value to jacket or cardi, adjustable, storable
2) my local theater & a few other venues where it can get really chilly and I'm essentially sitting in the dark and could use it over a jacket, or my legs, and be really comfy and not really have to " style" it.
So for that I am trying to think of maybe a gray and a burgundy.

I would keep at least a couple of faves. They can work as toppers for dresses in the warmer parts of the year when it gets a bit cool/breezy in the evening.

As Brooklyn suggests, I would keep a couple. Also because as soon as you'll have tossed them all, you will need a shawl ...

I only have a couple of pashmina or shawls but I find them very useful. I always take my favourite pashmina with me when I travel. I can throw it over my shoulders when I get chilly. I noticed other women doing this in restaurants in Montreal.
I would keep a couple of my favourites. That must be quite the sock collection Rachy.

I agree with the others, I would also keep a few favorites. I would have thought the pashminas help keep you warm but your socks seem to give you more joy.

Are there a couple in colors you particularly like? If so keep those .
If not go with what gives you joy and that is clearly your giant sock collection !

If you don't wear them, and they don't bring you joy, then perhaps it's OK to get rid of some. There has to be a few you like or that are multitaskers, no? And this sock collection has me intrigued...

I agree with the suggestions to keep a couple of favorites. And I am also curious to see pictures of this vast sock collection. I was putting away laundry last night and decided to redo my sock drawers (they're small, so there are three) Kondo style. It was a good little mindless task that also makes it easier to see what I have. I've been on a clean out/organizing kick lately.

OMG! The sock situation. If you reach for or need the socks more than the pashminas, then I say that you should switch them up--from an efficiency-manager-type perspective.

ETA: Given the regular size and shape of the pashminas, it might be easy to find compact storage for them in a way that keeps them visible for easy choice--moreso than the socks, anyway.

Lol, Emily. It's a very dire sitch. Mind, I have 5 drawers filled already and more in the laundry. I'm very serious about my socks. I have all different kinds, for different seasons and reasons.

You don't sound enthusiastic about any of them, so I would probably get rid of all of them. If the once-in-a-blue-moon scenario involves a particular shawl, maybe; but if it's just the shawl that adds to the outfit, no.

Yeah, it's not one in particular. I only wear this one for warmth on super rare occasions when I've nothing to do but watch tv - but that has a moth hole now.

That's a lot of socks!

But I have a lot too. Here are my newly organized sock drawers. 1 is shorter (kind of mid calf) socks. 2 is knee highs (I could stand to get rid of some more of these as I don't wear them as much). 3 is shortie ankle socks and athletic socks.

My drawers of socks were looking better yesterday, almost like yours, Janet, until I started just stuffing them in! Lol. This sock basket is full of winter stockings, knee high boot socks and thin trouser socks.

Oh right. So here I am tossing out shawls and what do I do? Yes, go to dinner with my mum and buy a shawl...lol. But but but hey! This is winter wool, not thin pashmina.

So bad. Here is a super wretch pic of me in the new shawl under the flourescent lights of a laundromat.
