About your wardrobe and personal style

Share your current splurge item?

With all this talk of bargain hunting v.s splurging, I thought it would be interesting to know what everyone's current splurge item would be.

So if someone said they would by you the one thing you want the most right now for your wardrobe, no matter the cost what would that exact item be?

I am not sure on mine off the top of my head so I will post in a few minutes when I narrow it down.

A moto/biker jacket in a soft chestnut color.

Do you have one in particular at a store you have been watching?

Posted 9 months ago

I'd have to try them on first - but I've had my eye on these (in my splurgy dreams!) -

Was rather naughty and splurged already! on my peacock wellies.

Hahaha, so what else would you want Loulou?

Tarzy, I think it's funny that the leather RL jacket is cheaper than the blazer. That blazer is SO 80's!!

Off the top of my head, I'd say I'd buy a pair of white denim jeans. BUT---I don't necessarily think they have to be super expensive. My favorite fitting jeans are from the Gap. I just have not been able to find a pair with all that I'm looking for.

Ok I can't decide between two:

Iincredible handbag:

Or "Glass of Bubbly" dress in blue:

I want a long puffer coat which doesn't cling round the hips and hang loose round the waist. Have looked all season but can't find 1 :-( so would def. splurge if i found 1.

There is no reason for me to own this coat. And I can't imagine I would actually buy it, even though I want to. But I just LOVE it:

This I actually plan to purchase when I have enough saved, because it's exactly what I'm looking for and I think it is fab.

I like window shopping online. It's fun. ;)

A pair of low-heeled, Duo calf-fit boots, with a 30 cm (12-inch) calf circumference.

I've been craving this denim jacket from Ann Taylor: http://www.anntaylor.com/catal.....ory=Misses

I was waiting to see if it would go on sale (even 25% off online wasn't a great discount because tax & shipping bumped it up over $80) except that they are now out of my size, so it's a moot point.

Wow those are all beautiful items!
NC what a gorgeous sweat, I love the color and texture!
Kari, I have totally drooled over that jacket every time I go in the store, its such a nice light denim material, looks so comfy yet tailored!

This handbag: http://www.elaineturner.com/na.....ke-leather.

My previous two purses are from this designer but I scored them 60% or so discounted. I passed up a conservative looking but functional bag that was on the cheap when I saw the pink embossed python. I'm a sucker for snake skin look alikes.

LeeHovey, I know, it is adorable... I have the pencil skirt in the same wash, so I'm kind of kicking myself for not snapping up that jacket when it was available. However, they never had my size in the store and the next size up was just big enough that it didn't look right... and I just couldn't justify paying $10+ more to buy online. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I just caught your "splurge items" above that I didn't see the first time around. The bag and dress are totally cute. I tend to have a running list of items from Anthropologie that I dream of owning, and once in a blue moon I actually find them on the clearance rack - keep watching to see if the price comes down!

I don't have a picture of them, but yesterday when I went headband shopping, I stopped by Anthropologie to see if they had any headbands on sale (they did not). I saw the most amazing pair of gold Tracy Reese t-strap flat sandals. They had nice wide straps made out of super soft leather and little bows. They were perfect and they looked like they might actually be comfortable since the straps were not skinny or stiff. But I did not bother trying them on because I knew I couldn't afford them, so I did not want to tempt myself further. I really wonder if I'm making a mistake though. My feet are so temperamental that it might be a worthwhile investment and I *do* have a friend that could get me a discount. I just don't know. I have spent so much money lately it makes me nauseous. They're probably gone by now anyway...

I have two big items on wish list (but no pictures):

Satchel style handbag in dark or mid tone gray

Riding boots in chestnut or mid brown

Not a splurge but I know my next purchase will be new bras - need front closures to prep for a casted arm next week.

A perfect black pencil skirt that will magically go down in size when I do.

No?

I really want a bright-colored bag for spring. I saw this Kate Spade one in cream and in yellow, and I honestly can't decide which I like more. The cream is just classically perfect in every way, but I am powerless against summery yellow!

http://www.katespade.com/sm-we.....36&P=1

I saw it at Von Maur for a bit less. It is so simple and perfect, and I want it very much.

Dang. Now you have me wanting it all over again!

Posted 9 months ago

Hmm. I'm kind of thankful I don't have anything at the moment. Which is rarely the case. I saved a lot over the holidays, and I recently splurged on boots and a bag (I'll have to see it before I make a final decision), so it's good nothing is tempting me at the moment. Heh, and now that I've said it I'm sure I'll come upon something very tempting.

Steffie, I saw that Guess trench coat while window shopping recently. I love it.

Ooh. I would have to say a Chanel jumbo flap bag. I'm not big into labels, but this bag is so classy and timeless to me. It's one of those things I want to treat really well and be able to pull out of my closet in 30 years and still rock it. Unfortunately, $1700 (or whatever it retails, I don't even know) is planets away from even my splurge price range. My brother works part time at Bloomies in Boston--I'm thinking of having him price out what it would cost me when his next big employee sale comes along.

Photo example (I'd want a fun color, I think):

I'm saving for a J Crew suit. It doesn't quite feel like a splurge because I will be using it for work and that doesn't feel so fun. I think I generally associate splurge with fun stuff. But I am excited about the prospect of getting it because they feel so nice and fit so well. So I think it will create a great foundation for more splurge-y things to come.

How fun to read everyone's!

I'm not ready to get one of these yet and I can't decide which style, but I really, really would love a Lia Lintern coat. http://lialintern.com/ I think they are amazingly beautiful.

Also, two pairs of knee-high boots, probably from Duo to fit my large calves, a dark brown equestrian style and a dressy black pair.

Either the perfect trench coat (which I have yet to find) in an interesting neutral like ink blue, or ivory with black accents. It would have to be single breasted with some interesting details (assymetry, some origami-esque detailing, etc.) and machine-washable

OR

A wonderful caramel or cognac super-soft leather moto jacket, also with some kind of interesting or unusual details. This is probably the one I'd go for since it would probably be the costliest!

Brianna--

I don't know if it's machine washable.

I don't have pictures, but either a great classically styled red or cream wool/cashmere coat OR a fabulous red leather (maybe patent?) handbag.

Posted 9 months ago

I already splurged! I bought 2 skirts and 1 cotton summer dress from J. Crew

The dress, in Light Pewter: http://www.jcrew.com/browse/si.....5086540817

and the skirts, which fit my 5"2 frame perfectly, I had the opportunity to try them on in the store:

http://www.jcrew.com/browse/si.....5086583960
http://www.jcrew.com/browse/si.....5086595301

What other items do you ladies think are splurge worthy for spring/summertime?

I am drooling over this leather jacket:

Posted 9 months ago

Patience! That trench is perfect, and it's on SALE. I may actually get it. Hmm, ivory or charcoal?

Posted 9 months ago

Brianna-- get the color you look best in. I would get ivory for myself but I'm going to live vicariously through you.

And Steffie, I meant to say that I think you should get your trench too. Couldn't be your winter coat?

After seeing San in her COH Huttons, I am wishing I could get a pair!
