I've had a few ups and downs with respect to my style, wardrobe and body image in the last two months but my closet cleaning that I started last week and finished this weekend has really helped to clear my mind - again.

I have removed all items from my closet that:
- do not currently fit
- no longer make me feel good
- no longer reflect my current style

This left me with a much smaller but much happier closet. I know regardless of what I grab off the hanger it will fit, flatter (whether that means flatter conventionally or JFE) and I will want to wear it. The smaller closet also revealed to me that my wardrobe is actually much more cohesive than I thought. Many things mix and match and there really aren't any "outlier" items. My primary colors are black, white, shades of grey and red - with the occasional pop of cobalt and purple.

I enjoy wearing a mix of fluid fits and structured pieces - often in the same outfit. I can enjoy wearing jackets and cardigans alike - I do not need to pick a favorite.

I'm a skirt and dress gal at heart and this will likely never change. I'm very much enjoying wearing my skirts and dresses again.

All remaining footwear is comfortable, my handbags and clutches make me smile and can elevate an otherwise fairly simple outfit and I'm starting to fall in love with my jewelry again.

Cleaning my closet also revealed to me that not all of my wardrobe workhorses were pricey or premium brand. My olive cargo pants were $29 from Ricki's and my black/white drapey ballerina tee was $19 from Smart Set. Not only have these items been worn to death but they have held up incredibly well. Cost does not equal quality or versatility.

Am I a true style minimalist? No, I don't think so. But I think I'm a Style Simplicity-ist. Too much clutter (whether it be in the closet or in my entire home) overwhelms me. Too many choices make me anxious. And looking at my clean and tiny closet feels good.

Here are two quick pics of my newly cleaned and thinned out closet - hubby's side is on the left, the center tower holds my shoes/booties, clutches and sweaters and my jackets/blouses/skirts and trousers hang on the right hand side. It's small. It's happy. It's perfect

Editing to add that I do have a dresser that holds undergarments, t-shirts and jeans.
