I've been hunting for navy booties for two years, I like to wear navy/ink as a neutral with brights or pastels and columns of navy and my only ankle covering shoes (I get really cold ankles in winter) are black.

I've continually struck out at brick and mortar stores at finding even one pair of navy booties. It may change in the spring but this is what I ordered and tried online for now that was in my price range. I'm a true size 8 with low volume feet and narrow ankles. I wasn't really interested in classic dress booties, nor did I want something RATE. I like silver hardware.

Crown Vintage Larin Boot -- out of my size in navy, I'd tried these on in black before at the store and found them comfortable and I think true to size, flattering with skinny jeans (the ankle opening seems to work well with the ankle bone.

Bandolino Asabi Boot -- a dusty navy, slightly grayed, worked well with all denim, didn't look as dark/saturated as a navy wool peacoat color. Comfortable, slight ankle gap but not a flower pot. Good ankle coverage

Restricted Jet Set Bootie -- slightly brighter than a navy wool peacoat, but still a dark midnight color that works well with denim. Darker than the Asabi's. A higher heel than the Asabi's but it really wasn't that noticeable to me, I thought it was a 1/4" difference even though it's listed as more. A narrower shoe but my feet are narrower so they fit. A closer fit at the ankle, looked great with skirts and tights as well as jeans. -- My fav. I'll check the color in daylight and walk around some more to make sure. Oops I just noticed that I ordered an 8.5, so I guess maybe try a half size up too, since they fit like an 8. Also for some reason the Rack page says they are manmade but they are real suede.

Seychelles Serene -- beautiful color -- sort of mottled almost slightly metallic (but not shiny) blue that went with a variety of navies. Flexible leather. Wasn't super padded inside and had little arch support and seemed very big for the size, flowerpot-y even when I added a thick insole. The ankle opening was a little low to provide the coverage I wanted. Still for a higher volume foot or sized down this might be good. I bought at amazon but you can see the color better on the L&T find.

Nine West Whynot -- I liked the 60's boot shape, high ankle coverage and any ankle gaping seemed proportional. Color a midnight blue similar to the Restricted booties (slightly brighter than a navy wool peacoat). Just too high a heel for me to be comfortable and I wanted a more intentional toe shape and blockier heel if I was going to go this direction.

Next up, a hunt for white or pale booties....
