Secondary body type?

What is a secondary body type, do I have one?

The last full length photo I took my wedding dress.
Pretty sure I am hourglass but the back isn't done up properly so it makes waist look a bit more bulky than it really is but still shows my figure.

Welcome! In these pictures you look completely hourglass without a secondary body type.

Not all people have secondary body types. But, a good way to think of a secondary body type is this: where do you first gain weight. So for me, I am an hourglass primarily. But when I gain weight, it tends to be most visible from the waist down (thighs, hips). So I identify myself as a secondary pear.

You are most definitely an hourglass! I don't see any secondary body type.

Like CocoLion, I'm primarily an hourglass; but when I gain weight, it's the bottom half of my body (lower stomach and hips) that get the extra weight. My top half doesn't seem to change appreciably. I guess that makes me a secondary pear, but I have a large bust in comparison to my petite body, and my shoulders are the same measurement as my hips when I'm a size 6 (again, that changes somewhat when I gain weight). I'm not even close to being small chested or small shouldered like a straight-up pear is supposed to be. That said, I've never gained enough weight to know how my body would change significantly or not. It doesn't seem to change much between the size 6 and size 8 I fluctuate between.

I see hourglass too, and a lovely shape!!

I am an hourglass too although less defined than you. When I put on weight I put it on evenly all over my body - arms/bust/waist and thighs! In fact even my neck, face and feet.

Your wedding dress is stunning.

Thank you for your helpful replies! So secondary is where weight goes if you get bigger? Well yes I have been bigger and the shape was the same but bigger even kept a flat looking stomach and I was 200lbs at one time pretty big since I'm only 5ft5.

Yes, the secondary shape is how your weight is distributed when you gain weight.

I'm not entirely sure that "secondary body shape" is ALWAYS to do with how you put it on when you gain weight. Some people are just not strongly one type. I am primarily a pear, but have quite a few rectangular tendencies too so that's my secondary type. And it I could get a tertiary body type it'd be hourglass!! Angie's pear and top half rectangle tips are those I find most useful (and the advice for pears and hourglasses is pretty similar anyway)

Anyway Chantellouise, in your case, clearly an hourglass!
