Sarah is Getting Specs--Opinions, Please?

Hi Everyone!

If you've read Patience's specs thread, then you know all three of us went out today to find glasses for Sarah and Patience. I started two separate threads so things wouldn't get confusing. :)

These are the three pairs we narrowed down for Sarah.

1. I don't know who these are by. They have really interesting detail though, and the little dots are actually tiny crystals. The brownish tint really brings out Sarah's eye color:

2. These are purple and brown, which are great with Sarah's coloring:

3. Chanel glasses. These are actually the exact same model I have, but a different color. It was amazing how different we looked in them. These are plum and indigo, which is great for Sarah's style and coloring:

Opinions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Well, you already know my opinion, but I'll post it here anyway. Now that I've seen the photos, I still like the first pair the best. The detailing is so pretty, and I think they would go with anything you have. Plus, they bring out your eyes the best.

My second choice is the Chanel pair (we could be specs twins!). :D

Well, they all look great. I prefer No. 1, but that flower detail on the side of No. 3 is distinctive and fab. If I had to pick one, I'd say the first pair.

Sarah, I don't think I have seen your face up close like this before and you are really beautiful! Such amazing flawless skin, pretty smile, and fantastic hair! You, Ana, and Patience must really turn heads when you go shopping together :)

Anyway, I am in total agreement with Ana. I love the first pair. The last pair is nice too, but the first is my preference. The second pair are definitely out for me--too wide.

I really like #3, but #2 is also really fun and funky. This is going to be a difficult decision!

I'm voting for the first pair - though I'm tempted by the colors of the other two. Like Maya, I think the second pair is too wide, but the color is very flattering.

I agree that you are so attractive that they all look good. But my favorite is the first pair.

Sarah, you are SO gorgeous! It's nice to see a close-up. Your hairstyle is so glamorous and romantic and it suits you so well, and you have lovely luminous skin and eyes.

I love both the first and third pair. The first pair is slightly more classic and slightly softer to me, because of how the bottom part of the frame sweeps up on the outer edge in a gentle curve, sort of like birds' wings. I also love that crystal detail--how cool is that? The third pair is a little edgier, more structured, and a bit more modern to me. I believe either you or someone else has described your style as having a glamorous and romantic element to it, so maybe the first pair would fit better with that? I think either choice would be a win.

I really like the third pair on you Sarah, but they are all great specs, you cannot go wrong with either.

I like #1 for sure.
I don't like how the color of #2 appears (looks like a faded red) on the outer edge of the frame. If they are varigated or if they are a light red I say no.
#3 I like these too but I slightly question the shape, particularly the outside edge of the sides. I think i could tell better if the photo was straight in front of the face. I like the color and side view of the glasses alot.

Seeing the pictures after a little break, I like #1 best too. #3 look great on you but I feel like they are more conservative.

Sarah, you have such a delicate lovely face. I like the shape of the first pair but the color, at least in the first photo, seems overpowering on you. The purple or indigo color looks more natural. So I'd suggest going with the Chanel pair.

I really like #1 but I LOVE the flower on #3. I think #2 are just too large for your face. You are so pretty and I love your hair!

Posted 9 months ago

I like both #1 and #3 - I would go for #3 but I feel it's a personality issue. I like the shape of #3 better. The color of #2 is great but I don't think the straight line along the top works as well.

Posted 9 months ago

Oh how fun. I like the first one best, the shape is very flattering and they are funky but versatile. The second pair is too wide, I think, and too straight-lined. The third pair is flattering but doesn't have the oomph of the first one. You look great with glasses, Sarah!

I really really like the first pair, but I'm biased because it looks very much like something I had tried not long ago. :)

I also like the first Chanel.

You have beautiful features, Sarah. And I adore your hairstyle - I'm a little envious ;-) How do you style your soft curls?

#1 handsdown

Posted 9 months ago

Sarah you also are gorgeous. I bet the three of you turn heads when you go out shopping together.
I love the first pair and the Chanel pair.

I LOVE #3!!!!

Posted 9 months ago

Both #1 and #3 are great -- I like the color of #2 but compared to the others they do look a bit wide.

Wow, thank you everyone! I think I definitely like #1 the best so far, too. I like #3 because of the colors (navy and purple), but #1 has some fun details that you really can't see in the photos. I plan on going back in again and trying on all these pair and more before I make up my mind.
I had a blast with Ana and Patience. We always do. :) I really value their opinions on pretty much everything I consider purchasing these days. And Ana, I appreciate you taking all the photos. Now I wish we'd gotten one of you. :(
Lena, thank you for the compliment! I actually have naturally curly hair but sometimes I want more "glam" curls. You can do this look with a flat iron (search 'flat iron curls' on YouTube for great tutorial videos) or a regular curling iron. I did a regular iron yesterday (in my opinion it's slightly easier this way, and is easier to explain). Take small or large sections of hair (play around with different ones to see what suits you best). With one hand, hold the iron next to your section of hair, with the nose pointing down to the ground. With your other hand, take the section of hair and wrap around the entire iron (leave the clamp closed against the iron) in the direction away from your face. Hold for 12 seconds, and slowly unwrap hair from the iron. Don't curl the last 1/2 or 1 inch.
Depending on how long your hair is, you might want to split it into two layers. I only do about three or four curls on my under layer (big sections) and do much smaller sections on the top half.
I don't comb it out, but I just flip my head over forward and then back again and let it settle on its own.
I hope this makes sense!

Did you and Bryan make it to the specs shop today? I'm really curious what he thought about them in person.

Posted 9 months ago

Sarah, thanks for the tips! I have wavy shoulder length hair that can go either straight or wavy, and I've been having fun with the wavy look lately.

I always wondered how people create curls with flat irons. I checked out youtube like you said. It looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure I want to treat my hair like a ribbon. Yikes. I'll investigate curling irons.

Thanks, again!

Without reading the other responses:

The first pair is my favourite, they frame your face so beautifully (and wow, you have such amazing skin and gorgeous eyes!). I love the colour of the second pair very much, but I think the glasses are a bit too wide for your face. The Chanel glasses are beautiful too, and I love the sound of plum and indigo, but somehow they seem a little too harsh for your face?

Posted 9 months ago

Ana, we went to look at the shop yesterday, but they had already closed. We might have to wait awhile before we can both get back in there. I can't wait to show him.
Lena, I use a Hot Tools curling iron.
My flat iron is a Chi. If you like the look of the flat iron curls, I'll search for a video that has a more hair friendly technique. I've seen them on there, so I'll look for it.

That's too bad, Sarah. Well, you have it written down, so when you're ready you'll have the number so they can order it if your frames aren't in stock. I'm so excited, I think you look really great in glasses and without glasses as well.

Bump for Angie. :)

I haven’t read anyone else’s comments, but hands down the first pair is best. The Chanel pair is next, and I like the colour of the third pair but the shape does not work with Sarah’s eyebrows and killer dimples. How did I do?

Posted 9 months ago

Yay! Most people like the first pair, and I think those are my favorite too. My family, husband, and friends all like those best as well. I love the Chanel detailing, but I think if I do those ones I should get an even lighter frame. Somebody above mentioned that the darker frames aren't as flattering for me, and I agree.
