San went hunting for jackets

I'm all the way up in Alaska for a few days. What a beautiful place. There's a bit of a chill in the air which made me want to go jacket hunting.
What do you think of these. Honest opinions welcome. I plan to wear them with jeans.

PS The Dansco shoes are my best walking shoes and I gave them a test here in Alaska today.

Hi San, first I must say what a treat it is to see your lovely face! I hope you are having fun in Alaska!

I am not going to be of much help, but I like them all on you! I love the denim and the black one, the green one is funky and love the colors of purple and red.

San - so nice to see your face! My favorite is the black outerwear closely followed by the green. Denim is my third. I am not as big a fan of the purple and the red. I hope you have a great rest of your trip to Alaska.

San -- I love the purple color but I'm not sure its the best for your complexion (now that we see your smiling face!). I like the style however and the red one looks great. I really like the buttons on the green jacket -- they take it up a notch. I think the denim is a great shape -- and I like the black one too.

Oooh those scarves are beautiful Judy. I didn't really want a black jacket but this one came in black, khaki, or orange, so the other two colors were not an option for me. A scarf or two would be fun to liven up the black. It is a very comfy jacket and only $78 at Nordstroms.
Thanks ladies for taking the time to give your thoughts on my purchases. I find the green one attractive but it is not very comfortable and is 100% cotton with no stretch fiber so I'll take it back. I thought I liked the purple but will take a second look at it after hearing several nays on that one. Also it is corduroy and I know I must be careful that it doesn't look sloppy.
Do you advise me to look for more polished jackets? More like a blazer to wear with jeans?
Alaska is awesome. We are having so much fun looking around. I now am in love with the Muskox. People back home have asked me if they smell musky and the answer is no, not that I noticed and we got very close to them at the Muskox farm in Palmer. We are looking everywhere for a moose. We were told that we are trying to hard. We need to just let it happen and we will see one. I'll post a picture of the Muskox on another thread and talk about the yarn that is combed out of their fur.
Thanks for your help. I'll check back to see if you all think I should be looking for more polished style jackets. Also I bought another pair of jeans like I have on in the pictures. Maybe I should look for a different style?

I love all of your jackets. Would you be willing to tell me where you purchased the purple corduroy and the green jacket? They would be perfect for my mom - who you remind me of a little.
My parents took a cruise to Alaska and absolutely loved it. I want to go there someday.

sarbear, I got all of the jackets at Nordstroms in Anchorage. The sales gal said that light weight jackets have a short season here because soon it will be getting very cold, which is why there was quite a selection of them on sale.
Maybe the Nordstrom sale page will have the purple one. I just looked at the tag and the green one wasn't on sale, but it is only $64.

San - Angie's blog today probably answers some of your question about whether to get a corduroy jacket. I think that the red corduroy jacket looks very nice on you. If you are more of a casual dresser, that jacket with a nice top underneath and maybe a nice scarf would looked very put together. Whether you need more "polished" jackets really depends on your lifestyle. And the black outerwear jacket with a plaid scarf would look great.

Without reading everyone else's answers (more fun that way!), here's my response:

1) If it's between the jackets and the scarf made out of that alaskan animal fur (what is it called again??), then I vote, go for the scarf!!!! You may never find something like it in the states - or it may be more expensive. And it would forever be a memory of your trip!

Otherwise...

2) I cannot get over how great you look in skinny jeans.

3) My favs are the red and the black jacket. I think the black in particular is KILLER.

4) The other jackets have their pluses - really, it seems you can wear nearly anything! - but a few of them seem loose in the back. This can be easily tailored though. I love the purple color. The denim I love too - but I am not sure I would pair with jeans (too much like a suit). Cream wool slacks would look cute. Or cream jeans. Or cream skinny cords.

Hi San! .. My parents just got back Sunday from a cruise in Alaska and the LOVED it! So I'm glad to hear that you're loving it too --- My favorites are the black, red and the jean one. The jeans do look great on you! I do agree with Shiny that maybe the jean should be paired with something other than jeans. She gives some great suggestions on what to pair it with.

Thanks everyone. I took back the purple one because it was pretty baggy around the waist. I took back the green one because it was really not comfortable. I kept the red one, the denim, and the black. The denim was marked down to $50 from $130! Pretty good savings and no sales tax.
How wonderful to have help from all you nice ladies.
Also I decided to take back the repeat pair of Hudson Stella jeans and got a bootcut. That makes my 3 pairs of premium denim all different, one skinny, one bootcut , and one more of a, hmmn, I guess it would be kind of a trouser leg. They are at home and I haven't worn them yet. I'll post a picture when I go home. I like these Hudson Stell skinnies alot but the back pocket has a distinctive pocket flap so I thought 2 pair would be too much.
