Ripped denim jacket?

I kinda like this denim jacket because of the stripes on the sleeves - but it's got holes at the elbows. That rules it out for work. Would that make it a total waste of time?

If you hike up the sleeves, the holes won't show. Honestly though, this is so far out of my comfort zone that I hesitate to answer. It's too out there for me--lol!

It depends on what your life is like. I have to be careful about buying lovely casual pieces that I just don't wear much, since most of my weekend is spent either in workout gear or church clothes. How much could you wear it?

I like the front view. And I don't like the back view! The shoulder rips are particularly weird. Any help?

I have a poison eye for denim jackets but if you find one you like, how hard is it to duplicate the banding shown? Easiest before sleeves are assembled but still not all that hard. It's not like it's a fit issue.

Rachylou I can see that the edginess of the rips n tears could appeal to you but I think denim's unforgiving nature would get in the way of you enjoying it.
I am wearing my denim jacket daily and, while it's not exactly a hair shirt, it is strict and that's OK with me because it's also warm and cosy and robust, all of which I appreciate.

The elbow rips don't bother me nearly as much as those shoulder...whatever-they-ares? We have a cat in TX who likes to jump on our shoulders and ride around up there -- this jacket looks like it's been through a bit too much of that. It's a shame because otherwise I think it's fun.

Hilarious tho: I didn't mind the shoulders... it was the elbows that worried me. Typical!

Maybe I can paint some stripes onto a plain jacket.

I'd be wearing this weekends and evenings. If the jacket has no rips, I could conceivably wear it to work every now and then. Certainly not every day. Way too casual.

I'm thinking it'd be pretty easy to put fabric stripes on a jacket -- you could even your fusible interfacing, eliminating the need for a machine to sew with.

I like the longer, looser line, too, although I prefer them without rips, just softened up by washing.

Fabric stripes doing fusible interfacing is a great idea!

I don't usually like fraying, but it sorta appeals to me here. But I couldn't do that as an everyday thing at work, only as a fashion statement. Slumming it is not appreciated at work.
