Ridiculous, too big or JFE?

JBrand crossover pants. Drapey & really comfortable, but big! These are an 8 and I could definitely go down a size (not available). They sit low on me. These tops are not right with them but the black tee is what I'm wearing today, and the white tunic (tucked here) is too big.

Are these ridiculous, too big, or worth trying? On an amazing sale and returnable if I get them home and they're unworkable...

Please be honest & tough. This is not something I expect to work on me, but I like them more than I thought I would.

You are looking good! Now, the pants... From the front, too big (possibly deliberately to some eyes, but to mine, just too big). From the side, just fine. Perhaps a tailor could trim the front a wee?

Janet I love these pants. I think you can wear this size. The side view is great, back view from what I see also looks good. What concerns me is the view from the front. They are big, so the cross over drapes beautifully, however to my eye it is obvious that there is additional, perhaps unnecessary, fabric on the hip area. I personally would not be happy with that as my hips need no additional padding lol. I am a huge fan of oversized garments but I think I would really like to see you in the next size down. I am worried this size might seem like a good idea now but once in your closet they may not. Can you source a smaller size?

They are very cool. My first reaction is that you need one size down. The front photo makes it look like the front waist sags down? But they look like the correct size from the side, so maybe that's not accurate.

I am undecided. The concept is great. The fit is probably JFE. I'd like to see them with a different top - maybe something that hits just below the waist that you don't tuck in?

(I'm also envious, but glad that I didn't find them myself because I have so many pairs of pants right now!)

Thanks for the input so far! Great insights. GS, yes, they do sag down a bit in front. It's good to have ease in the waistband so I can wear them low on the hips, but these are pretty big. There are belt loops.

It's so completely out of my realm of experience to try on a pair of pants that are so loose in the lower hip and thigh, it's hard for me to know what a good fit would be! This was moments after peeling a pair of sized up rag & bone jeans that were falling off my hips but still clinging to my thighs, sigh. These do indeed seem quite roomy. I would have to look around online to see if I can find them smaller.

not feeling it. the waist fits. the crotch is the most bothersome because it billows out. if it lay flat, then the look is properly oversized even in the thigh.

Well, interesting to see these on you. I have a sugar eye for x-over pants and have been unable to find my own pair, so I will be following with interest.

I think they look a little too big from the front. If you can't get a size smaller, I would vote to forget these and try something else.

I'll echo others: I like them a lot from the back. You could walk backwards everywhere--LOL! They look too big from the front, though--just too much fabric there.
I'm glad you tried them, and it would be great if the next size down were available and fit you. I really like the style on you, conceptually.

Interestingly, I just showed the pics to hubs, and he seemed to like them. Granted , we both just indulged in a margarita AND a shot of tequila (his last night in town), so judgment might be a little skewed... Nonetheless, interesting that he didn't hate them on first sight!

I left them in the store, on hold. When I search online for J Brand, I'm not finding these anywhere. They are most definitely not a need, but a potential interesting wild card variation to shake up my worldview that I cannot successfully wear this silhouette with my slightly bottom-heavy physique. It's interesting to see the feedback in that light. Thanks, all!

They are not too big but they are a very different shape and cut from what you are used too maybe. Actually, they fit very good on you and you wear the style well. I actually quite like it with the white tunic, worn loosely over the waist like this! AND I love the footwear you chose too. It's all very chic and forward. If I were you, I'd gt them, because they fit you so nicely and they could be a key piece for an injection of "of-the-moment" style.
I actually feel they are not too big, but meant to be drapey in this way, and saggy in the front. I do own a pair of crossovers from Lululemon and they are just as saggy in the front, it's the style. You could also take them for alterations and have them taken in very little here and there.

These are too big as/ is. Not sure is easy to tailor. If you return, use the aha moment-- this style looks good on you but needs good fit. Find the size down or keep looking at similar styles.

Janet, my style twin, I love the look on you, so don't give up. As you know I'm on the same cross over pant journey, but in white. I'm sizing down and am hopeful for both of us, though, to be honest, I could use a little extra width in the hip to balance my top half. If I see anything that might work for you, I'll let you know.
