You can tell from the title that this story has a happy ending.....last week I had my annual mammogram. A few days later they called me and said I needed to go back for another round on the right side and maybe an ultrasound too. Not words you want to hear. I have very dense breast tissue so this happened at least once before, so I did not quite panic. Today was my appointment, stomach fluttering all the way in. I find these procedures extremely painful, and today it was worse than last week. I got the "all clear" which makes it all OK Big sigh of relief !!!!

Since the gods have been good to me today, I feel I should pass it on. I'm sending healing thoughts to the YLF community where I know there are some dealing with health issues.

That's always scary. I am so glad that you got good news! Rationally you know that the odds are that its nothing but you can't help but think the worst.

I first had a lump removed when I was 19. About 12 years ago, I had ultrasound and needle biopsy. That happened again about 3 years ago and that time it was an intraductal cyst. Since they can become cancerous, I had surgery to remove what remained. It is always such a relief to get the negative results.

Thanks Kiwigal and Susie for the thoughts. Yeah, it's part of life, one has to get through it, and it sure beats the alternatives, but yep kinda scary.

That is such wonderful news, Chris. I know what a relief it is to get the "all clear," having had a similar experience not too long ago. It makes you appreciate your health even more after it's over, I think. Celebrate!

Eliza I think your theory is right, and HAS been proven. I seem to remember reading that people who actively practice gratefulness get all kinds of benefits from it.

I have been through that before so I deeply empathize with you. I now get 3D mammograms that can provide clearer views of dense breast tissue.

That is good news; congrats. I had to do a "call back" for more smashing and an ultrasound in January and it was all a false alarm but I was sobered by having to go through it and it made me think about what I would do if the news were not so good. I had a call back about 20 years ago but didn't go back then. My mother had BC at age 41 in 1971, resulting in a radical mastectomy. In 2010, she had a new case in her remaining breast and another less invasive mastectomy. She didn't ever have to do chemo or radiation. And she is still around at 86.

Thanks Danusia. This was my second 3D one, my first was last year. Even with the 3D the tissue was too dense to get a good look the first time.

Nebraskim - love your words "more smashing"...that's exactly right :-). I've always been a person who would rather have all the info on medical issues than to hide from them. It can be scary for sure. Sounds like your mom is one tough cookie.

A long time ago they watched something for 6 months. Not fun. But I have the opposite of dense breasts now. Plus, easy to read on a mammogram. Minus, well, they aren't dense.
