Recommendations for layering basics, please!

I need to get a whole new set of layering tees for this fall/winter - anybody have any suggestions?

I'm looking for cotton with a little bit of spandex for shape retention, v-neck, long sleeves. Hopefully, something that washes well and will last more than one season. If I find the perfect one, I'm planning to purchase it in several colors.

I'm on the same hunt (same story every year!) and last year I was really happy with some layering tees I got from Nordstrom....Caslon brand. I plan to see what they stock this year and hopefully Caslon will have some good options this year as well.

I haven't worn it yet (too hot) but I found a shirt called the essential tee in a small town boutique. I wish I knew where to get more! It was $36 which is a lot for a tee but the fabric is great. If anyone else knows who sells these, yell out! I expect it to be a great layering tee and can also go solo.

I bought the Caslon Scoop Neck long-sleeve t-shirt during the anniversary sale and it seems perfect for what you're describing. It's longer through the body, which I like for layering. I sized up so it wasn't so clingy. It's my first go with the Caslon brand, so I can't vouch for durability. It feels really nice, though, so I have high hopes.

I'm becoming a huge fan of Three Dots scoop and v-neck tees. I also have some Nic and Zoe sleeveless tanks....they come in lots of colors, have a little spandex so they're fitted but not skintight!

Thanks, everyone! This gives me some good places to start. It seems to still be a little early for long sleeves, but I'm sure there will be more of them in stores by the end of this month.

Hm, I always check Gap for tees. Now I'm gonna look at AT, too!

I have a couple of Calson scoop-neck tees, but I find them a little thick for layering. I also have a three-dots tee and loved it...before it shrank (and I did not even dry it!)
