Sorry to hear this, Shannon. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a much comfort.

Oh no! Hope they go away soon.

Oh no! Take care & hope you recover quickly.

Shannon, I hope you feel better soon.

I've heard that a Shingles are NOT fun so I'm hoping they go away quickly! Take care of yourself.

Oh, Shannon! So sorry to hear this. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Feel better very soon!

Painful. Hope it passes soon.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Shannon!
PSA to others - In Canada the Shingles vaccine is now available to anyone over 50, recommended strongly for anyone over 60. I just had mine coincidentally last week (I'm 51). Only side effect was a mildly sore/redish arm for a few days. If you've ever had chicken pox you should try to get the vaccine!

I am SO sorry to hear this! I had shingles at 19, and I remember how painful it was... I was able to continue working through it, so hopefully you are able to also do what you need to do. But I hope that you can get some down time as needed, rest as much as possible... and find comfortable clothing.

So sorry Shannon. I've had the shingles and couldn't wear a bra. They were around that part of my body. I have since had the shingles vaccine at the insistence of my doctor. I was told that they are likely to reoccur and the vaccine can help the intensity.
As I remember, shingles mean that your immune system is weak. I think I was also told to stay far away from pregnant women, babies, anyone who has not had chicken pox, and those whose immune systems may not be strong. Did your doctor suggest that you stay home?
A bad case can be life altering. A cousin has been in constant pain for nearly 15 years after shingles attacked the spine. Some get it internally.

Oh my! I have a good friend who also had shingles this year, but treated early she recovered quickly, so there's hope! Feel better!

Oh no! So sorry to hear this, Shannon. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I want to thank you all soooooo much for your well wishes. It means a great deal to me.

Update Oct. 22: I'm now into Day 5 and this is the most uncomfortable day I've had yet but it is still manageable. I'm very tired as my body continues to fight this thing but Advil every 4 hours is doing the job of keeping the pain livable so I can continue to function. The biggest hurdle has been trying to sleep at night.

The shingles "band" starts on my left hip, runs across my stomach and up to my right breast. Thank goodness for fluid fits 'cause anything snug would be unbearable at this stage.

Got the greatest tip from my Mom who had shingles several years ago and I put my pajamas in the freezer about two hours before bed. It's been hard to fall asleep because the pain and burning seems more intense at night and I can't get comfortable. I use ice packs throughout the day and evening and the cold is quite relieving. So my Mom mentioned she put her pj's in the freezer and just before getting into bed would put them on - yes, chilly and not cozy, but the cold instantly provides relief which helps you fall asleep. Works like a charm - I guess mothers really DO know best! I still wake up around 3:30/4:00 when the discomfort starts to seep in again but I've at least had a few good hours of sleep before that happens.

I got on the anti viral medication under the 72 hour marker and think that relative to many others, I've got a fairly mild case. Hopefully it will be short lived too

You're a trooper, Shannon. It sounds awfully unpleasant, and we wish you a fast recovery. Sending healing thoughts, much love, and great tip from Mum.

ps. Have another pair of frozen pjs ready at 3.30am?

Thanks Angie - and once again you're in my head. On the way home from work today we stopped at Target and I picked up 3 pair of light weight pj's and they are ALL in the freezer as we speak! Rotating frozen pajamas

Potatoes in shoes, pjs in the freezer - I really have heard it all thanks to you, Shannon.

Hoping for a good night of rest for you.

I might have to try the Pj's in the freezer trick for our intensely hot summer! Very glad to hear you are in good spirits but the shingles sound awful. How long does it normally take for this to clear up?

Shannon, you are amazing. What an awful ordeal and you are still cracking jokes. I love the frozen PJs idea!

Shannon, this sounds just absolutely miserable. I'm so sorry! I'm sending wishes for a very speedy recovery! Get lots of rest and take care.

Hold on there, Shannon! Frozen pj's sounds like a great idea.
Sending healing vibes your way!

Goodness Shannon, you are indeed a real trooper! And you even managed to look stellar in your red dress yesterday too. What a fabulous idea about the frozen pajamas! Get well soon x

I was going to suggest a second pair of PJs in the freezer too. I am sorry to hear you aren't on the mend yet. Hopefully you will start the upswing to healing soon.

Hope that your through the worst of it, Shannon. Great idea about the pjs.
Just very sorry you need it. Hang in there!

So sorry to hear this. A few of my family members have gotten shingles and it was painful. Keeping you in my thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Wow. I cannot imagine frozen pjs ! I just hope that you find relief. My mom had shingles and it was just awful. Thinking of you.

Thanks for the update. Oh wow crazy about the frozen PJs. Glad it helps. Hope the nasty virus is *destroyed* and moving out.

Oh NO! I just saw this Shannon, and my thoughts are with you. It sounds like you indeed caught it early, and I hope it gets no worse than this. The rash should clear in about two weeks, and I pray you have no residual pain. My case was long and arduous, as you know, but looking back I wonder if I was dealing with something else at the same time. Either way, do all you can to boost your immune system and eat healthy. It can't hurt!

Your outfits have been fabulous. I would have never known!

ETA: PM me anytime if you need support. I'll even give you my cell number. <<<hugs>>>

Oh Shannon, I'm so sorry to hear of this! Hopefully you will get better quickly and have no more outbreaks.

I am so sorry for you. My thought go to you. I hope you feel better very soon. You are so fab and inspiring, can't wait to see more WIW's from you. Please get well soon!
