Just wanted to apologize for not replying on my own threads on Friday nor commenting on any of your posts over the weekend. I started feeling sick on Thursday and by Friday evening it was painfully obvious. A clinic appointment Saturday morning confirmed I have singles.

Hmmm...I might have to come up with some type of "shingles style"

Anyway, just wanted to let you know so you don't think I'm ignoring you.

Did you manage to catch it early enough that the anti-virals were effective. I have heard if you don't get it quickly, it can be quite painful.

Dianthus - I did catch it early and am on the anti virals. Here's hoping its short duration and less intense.

Beth Ann - sadly there's no way I can miss any work right now so I think pj's are out of the picture. Will definitely be looking for soft and non constrictive. At least the fever broke.

Made sure to take care of yourself shingles are nothing to mess with. My Doctor suggested I take the shingles shot I have been putting it off. I am making my appointment tomorrow.

I hope the antivirals work for you. Claire's postings prompted me to run out and ask my doctor for a shingles shot, and then I nagged DH to get one. At Kaiser (and maybe elsewhere?) they recommend getting the vaccination at age 60 and will administer it a few months earlier, at least if you have certain medical conditions.

I echo what Suz wrote, Shannon, please take time off if it's necessary sweet lady. And I'm so sorry shingles are no laughing matter. I'm relieved to hear you caught it in the early stage, and hopefully the meds are already helping.
Rest as much as possible, and let your boys spoil you a little too.

I hope your case is mild and you recover quickly and completely. My spouse's bout with shingles last year was very unpleasant for him. It's a challenging disease.
