Questions about stuff I tried on today

I had a pretty awful day today, so I tried to take my mind off of it and do some "shopping" (in quotes because I didn't actually buy anything, but I tried on a lot of stuff). I have some ?'s about a few things:
-INC ponte pants: All of you who said the cotton ones were inferior were right. I managed to track down the last size 4 rayon pants and they were amazing. It broke my heart to put them back on the rack, since they will probably be gone by tomorrow (if not by now). I don't think my size will be left by the time they go on sale, but just in case: I am curious about regular vs. petite. The regulars were surprisingly long on me. I think the website says they are only 32" and my regular inseam is 31", but these seemed at least a good 3"-4" too long. I guess I'm wondering if ponte skinnies should scrunch like denim skinnies. If so, regular would be better (hemmed slightly), otherwise petite might be better. They won't skim the ground but since they are skinny I don't think it matters.
-Denim leggings. OK, my understanding of denim leggings was that they were just REALLY stretchy denim jeans, but I also saw some legitimate leggings in the INC department that were styled like denim, and I was really impressed by how convincing they were. Are these the denim leggings that Angie posted about, or are these different? I am not sure if they would be allowed to be worn with a shorter top though, as the material is still a knit and pretty clingy. If so though, I am totally sold. They looked SO comfy and very denim-like. I didn't actually try them on though since I ran out of time.
-Boyfriend blazer: I found a GORGEOUS bf blazer at H&M but it was $60! What gives?! It's H&M! I guess I"m just cheap... Anyway, it fit like a glove but I wasn't sure about the length. Vani's seemed shorter than mine from what I remember. The one I tried was pretty long...just below the bum. Is this too long for petite me? It was perfect otherwise. I don't know if it will go on sale or if my size will be left in stock (probably not, sigh), but it has skyrocketed to the top of my wish list assuming the length is ok!

I haven't seen the ponte pants in person, so I can't really be any help on those.
I'm wondering the same thing about your denim leggings question. I hope someone can clarify this.
My thoughts on the long boyfriend blazer is that even though you are short, you have long legs, so I think it could work (although, I can't be sure without seeing it on you). I wouldn't take a pass on it just yet.
Hi Maya, unfortunately, I am way behind on YLF trends (just started wearing skinnies plus boots!) so all three of these items are not quite yet on my radar.
I haven't seen the INC pants but I did try on some ponte knit pants at J Crew and I just don't get the fascination with these at all.
I really want to get some denim leggings as I am finding that my skinnies are not skinny enough to tuck into boots without alot of bagging in knees/calves (guess my thighs are proportionally big compared to my calves!). I am also wondering how these are meant to be worn so I am looking forward to Angie's response.
Ugh, the BF blazer. I just unloaded my 90's BF type blazers at Goodwill last year so I am not ready to get on this bandwagon. I agree with Ana, with your long legs, below the bum sounds like a good length though of course we would have to see pics.
Mine are on the longer side ,below the tushie.. I like them with skinnies , but I pair with heels, that may make a difference overall on appropriate jacket length...(or not )
Must check with the experts here on that :)
Shana, I tried on some awful ponte pants before and I didn't get the fascination with them either, but it turned out that they were just a bad cut (more like leggings than pants). The ones I tried on today were a thousand times better and outrageously comfortable. I am in love.
After re-reading Angie's post, it seems like what I saw is different than what she blogged about. I want to emphasize that they are NOT the leggings on the website:

Not, not, not! The ones I saw had a zip fly and back pockets, no elastic waist. I don't see them on the website though. I'm guessing they are still best reserved for tunics and dresses, since the material is thin and legging-like. I'm surprised I haven't found any denim-look ponte knit pants yet. It seems like a logical step...
I wasn't really dressed for shopping today (lots of layers, boots, and tights), so I was reluctant to try wait for a fitting room and try on an outfit on with the bf blazer. It looked strange with my pencil skirt, so I didn't take pictures because I thought it probably wouldn't give an accurate idea of how I would wear it or what the proportions are. I took a picture of the tag (and sku) with my phone so I can hopefully track it down in the future. H&M jackets always seem to fit me very well.
Maya, I tried these:

and they were too short on me so I'd stick with the regulars. I think these pants can handle some scrunch for sure.
My BF blazer hits below my bum and I love it although Angie says wear it with heels.
my bf blazer hits below the butt too. haven't worked up the nerve to wear it QUITE yet....
let me know what your verdict is on the ponte pants! i really want a pair now...
Maya, you *must* have a boyfriend blazer. It’s your look. Stalk the one at H&M because it sounds perfect. I doubt that it looked strange with pencil skirt. I bet it looked fab! You might need to adjust your eye. Trust me.
Okay, denim leggings. Here are three observations:
1. The ones I blogged about and actually very thin stretchy jeans. If you have the body type, you can raise the length of your top.
2. I have seen a version at H&M that looks just like leggings actually – elastic top, but also in a very thin stretch denim. These are still leggings and tunics are best.
3. Then there are leggings that look like denim but they aren’t denim at all. It’s cross grain nylon that changes colour when it’s stretched.
I’ve had all versions on everyone including myself! My vote still goes to #1 because the zipper, fly and pockets provide a little more structure. I hope that makes sense.
I really hope the bf blazer goes on sale. 36 is usually one of the first sizes to sell out though, so I'm nervous! I guess I could also hope to find a job soon so I can afford it NOT on sale, but that just seems like too many good things to hope for at once..
Thanks for the explanation of the varieties of denim leggings. I'm going to give them a try. I have tried so many varieties of skinny jeans and I can't help but find them uncomfortable. By the end of the day I just want to rip them off.
What do you think about scrunching on ponte knit skinnies Angie? Should I get the regulars and hem them to a scrunchable length, or keep them straight? It sounds like the petites will be too short.
Maya,
- go for the Inc pants you won't be disappointed. I think you may be fine with the shorter that does not scrunch. My reasoning is that these pants are warm (they don't breathe since they are synthetic). So you are unlikely to want to wear them with ballet flats. You will much more likely wear them tucked into boots - in which case, scrunch doesn't matter. Just be okay with reserving these for boots only. They will be nice and warm for cold wintery days in NYC!!
- Leggings - I can't say since I haven't tried any of these on (I figure my UO's are close enough)
- BF Blazer - get it! I think you can pull off a longer one, because your legs are longer.
Just thought of something: the petite Inc pants will have a lower rise. I know you like a higher rise.
I LOVE scrunched ponte pants, Maya. Mine scrunch a little, but to Shiny's point they do not need to.
