question about scrunching blazer (and jacket) sleeves

OK, I have a (possibly dumb) question for all you ladies who wear your blazers and jackets with the sleeves scrunched: How in the world do you get the scrunched sleeves to stay put??? Mine won't stay up for more than a couple of minutes, and the minute I move they fall back down. Does this only work with knit jackets, or jackets without a slippery lining in the sleeves? Even with my Nanette Lepore blazer, which has very slim, shrunken sleeves, I can't get them to stay scrunched.

Try pulling the sleeves up from the top to scrunch between the shoulder and elbow. The elbow helps hold them in place. The sleeve needs to be narrow at the bottom end. Rolling it back once or twice helps.

I turn back the cuff once and slip a hairband underneath. This holds it in place when I push the sleeves up

Joy, I have tried scrunching even above my elbows and the sleeves still fall down... I think maybe i have small elbows?

These are interesting ideas! I need to try the hearband trick.

I don't ever scrunch regular sleeves because I feel like they won't stay up but I do have a 3/4 sleeve Frenchi jacket that has elastic/ruching built into the sleeves. The elastic makes scrunching super-easy.

In the '80s, I bought arm garters especially made for this purpose. They looked like stretchy metal bracelets. I have no idea if they are still made. I probably bought them in the accessories section of a department store or possibly in the notions section of a fabric store.

I usually fold, roll and scrunch. The fold and roll helps it to stay in place. If it really doesn't want to behave, you can try a rubberband inside the roll.

I don't scrunch mine very often but when I do, I usually use a rubber band or hair band to keep them in place. The sleeves fall down on me otherwise.

Garters work for scrunching! That is the only way I can get sleeves to stay up!

Ladies, I'm happy to report that I am using the hairband trick today to hold up my sleeves and it is working like a charm! Thanks Sammi and everyone else for the suggestion!

Like Rita, I roll and cuff before scrunching and then add a large elastic band if need be.

I don't scrunch 'em - I fold them into cuffs! It has better staying power that way!
