Pullover sweaters to wear OVER a collared shirt? Leads?

I found a great neutral pinstrip AT collard shirt at the mall and it fits beautifully, but it is definitely a background piece. Even if it were a showstopper, I need layers in the winter. Angie mentioned she is mainly a pullover gal (as opposed to cardi) and I am realizing I am the same way...but I'm having a hard time finding pullovers that will allow another layer under the sleeves (most are so snug!).

Any leads for me? I am (re)posting the picture of the top - sorry to bore those of you who saw it in my other post today!

You might want to try a pullover one size up from what you are wearing if you prefer a looser fit. I would shop around though because all brands are different in terms of fit, some looser, some tighter. Banana Republic tends to run looser on me, for example but I shop at Bebe as well and their sizing is supertight so I actually tend to go for size M instead of their S

I agree with a pullover a size bigger. I've worn some polka dot crew necks ( old navy and madewell), some v neck navy sweaters ( jcrew) as a couple options.

I was also looking for a pullover to wear over a checked shirt recently and didn't find a suitable one in stores. I ordered this through Amazon -http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZXS9QY/ref=oh_o03_s01_i00_details

and it fits beautifully. Isn't too snug and looks great. I didn't even have to size up.

I sympathize with the skin-tight sleeves issue. (I don't *think* my arms are that huge in comparison to my torso, but who knows?). Maybe try some pullovers from Lands End or LandsEnd Canvas? They may have less trendier cuts and therefore a *little* more room in the sleeves. I know they'll have a lot of color and style options for pullovers.

Pullovers are everywhere this winter! J. Crew, Gap, Nordstrom, Express, Land's End Canvas, Target...You shouldn't have any trouble finding a wide selection.

ETA some pics! 1 is J. Crew, 2-4 Gap, 5-8 Old Navy, 9-12 Land's End Canvas. These are all long sleeved (I agree that 3/4 sleeves become more popular once spring [at retail] is in the air!).

ETAx2: I saw after I'd posted these links that you are looking for wool (most of these are cotton, in keeping with the upcoming spring season). I agree with Jeanne about looking at sale sweaters--I'll bet you can find some great deals on wool, cashmere, etc.

Huh...I'll doublecheck, Jonesey, but the other issue I'm coming up against is the 3/4 sleeve problem. I need full length long sleeves!

ETA JCrew, for example, only has one decently priced pullover sweater (that's not final sale), and it's pretty plain...I am attacking this wardrobe hole late in the season to expect a lot of choices, I'm afraid! AT is notorious for 3/4 length sleeved tops.

ETA #2 Also, the JCrew sweater is a cotton blend. I'm looking for wool or wool blend winter sweaters. I may be out of luck, as it's January already.

I'd check B&M stores like department stores as all of mine seem to have huge piles of sweaters they are trying to unload. Maybe Macy's etc...?

How do you feel about pairing the shirt with a batwing-sleeved sweater, MPJ? Or a sweater dress if you have one?
I also like the look of a button-down shirt peeking out from under a turtleneck sweater (you just see a bit of the hem and if you pop the collar of the shirt you get an extra peek on top too).

I got a nice one from H&M for christmas. Full sleeves and the chunky cable knit looks fine layered over button-front sleeves - though it has a boat neck. Not sure if that matters to you or not.

Hmm i dunno...mine just always kinda work regardless of the size sometimes i just have to do a bit more adjusting to get everything situated...like that blue striped pullover i have from ON? It's pretty tight and the button up i put under it is actually a little big for me but i still got it to work out.

But there are plenty of pullovers (or jumpers! So fun.) right now as this is a trend and lots of them are bulkier, looser styles. I've gotten some from H&M and F21 that are like this.
