PPP and the Cognac bootie showdown.

Oh, boy. Four pairs of booties ordered from Sarenza a European company that I've bought several pairs of shoes from and always been pretty happy with the European sizing for my feet. The criteria was a walkable heel and to be able to wear with skirts as well as jeans. Not sure some of these would be quite right with skirts, but that's the least of my worries...

First off, pics #1 and #2. Buckle details by Eden. These are just plain too big all over and dig in to the flesh a couple of inches above my ankle when I walk, yet are roomy round my ankles at the front

#3 and #4 The cheapest of the bunch by Jonak. The closest in fit, but no cushioning underfoot and they even feel hard with insoles in. The sole itself is thin and the width of these a tad snug. I think the balls of my feet will soon complain.

#5 and #6. By Pikolinos. I'm really surprised these don't fit as well as I'd hoped. I have another pair of the same brand which are great. These are too wide even with insoles and the heel slippage is really bad, plus they are roomy in ankle width. I'm sooo disappointed as these initially seemed my best bet and the leather is lovely.

Lastly, pics #7 and #8 Equestrian styling by Georgia Rose. Gorgeous quality leather, but too much room over my instep and a little wide too. Even an insole doesn't seem to help.

I keep hearing Angie's voice in my head telling me to think of the PPP principle and I can't see me keeping any of these I'm so sad as I'm running out of options. European sizes haven't let me down this much before. A euro 37 is a fraction over a British size 4 which is perfect for me as a 4 1/2 can be too big. Back to the drawing board I think

I LOVE #7. Best fit by far. (I think you're my foot twin, btw). Have you tried wearing those with a sock - or size down to a 36.5.

Love 7/8 -- ditto to Angie, how about an insole PLUS a little thicker sock. I have to do this for some of my boots. We have similar fit issues, but I think mine are less extreme. 3/4 are really beautiful too.

Angie and Janet, they don't do a 36.5, only a 36 which I'm sure would be too short. They do seem far too roomy over my instep for my comfort levels too. Very disappointing. I didn't want to wear a sock in them as I hoped to wear them with skirts too and even opaque tights aren't as thick as socks. I'm not a sock gal either. Always knee highs for me under jeans. Mind you, I can't see the style working with a skirt to be honest.

I love #7 by a country mile over the others. Fit looks great but sounds like they don't fit well inside The others are looking a bit flower-pot-ish to me....hmmm.

Yup. They look more like "jeans booties". Try a sock and pair of jeans - just to be sure. And then back they go.

I wear thicker socks with booties and bare legs often, but very short cut ones so they don't show at all (they don't go as high as the top of the bootie). Often padded athletic low cut black or gray running socks work well because they are also moisture wicking. Even looking from above they don't show on booties this high. Added to the right insole they can make a bootie a very comfortable all day walking shoe for me.

Yes. That's another good point, Rabbit. Short invisible ankle socks are clever little creatures.

If you can do a short sock, you just might be able to save #7.
All of my issues with the Pettys came down to the socks (which I discovered by wearing them without, one evening.)

Thanks for the various sock ideas for #7 ladies. I may give it a go. I'm still thinking that they may possibly not be 'the one' though. I really would have loved to feel like the style suits skirts too though and as Angie says, they are perhaps more for jeans.

Love the way the Pikolinos look from the front. Can you try a smaller size? I like the last equestrian pair but there is no frontal picture so I can't evaluate.

Love #7. Inserts come in various thicknesses and even fleece ( I've heard that Ugg sells a good one). Maybe a combination of insoles would work.

Just chiming in to say that I almost always wear no-show athletic socks with my booties. My feet are narrow and the socks help with the fit plus they stay in place without showing.

I really like The the new pair you posted, but also second the suggestion to try sport socks or an inner sole,cause that equestrian pair is great.

Ooooooh. The new Rajkota's from Rubber Sole look stunning. Try those right away.

Visually my faves are #3/4. So I'm in favour of trying the Rubber Soul ones as they have a very similar look. The others are nice but I'm not drooling over any of them x

I'm glad you like the new contenders. I'm ordering them and they deliver in 3 working days so I can hold off from returning all the others till then. Fingers are crossed big time, because I really like the shape of the Rajkota's from Rubbersole. They are made in Spain and the leather looks fab!
