Pop that collar!

Does anyone else here almost always wear their collar up whenever they wear a blouse or a polo shirt or whatever? I do! My personal favourite is to pop It up on a nice white shirt, what's everyone else's favourite preferences? How often do you pop it? What's your favourite thing to wear popped, polo, blouse? Do you think the trend is coming back? Thanks ladies!! X

Greetings, Heini. I love the popped collar look on others, and wore it myself in the 80's (those popped polo collars), but I don't do it often now --- my hair and the collars get all tangled up together, so they end up annoying me and looking wonky!

I do! I have a short neck, so I think it helps a lot to make a longer line from the top of the popped collar to the first button. Trend or not, makes me feel taller and thinner, so I'm popping that collar!

I love a popped collar especially with something with structure, say my Current/Elliot denim jacket or a dressy blouse. I have short hair and a long (getting wrinkly neck) so it does a bit of a camouflage as well.

I love to pop the collar when I put my hair up in a bun or pony. Then I wear bold hoop earrings to sort of make a "link" from my collar to my head and connect the dots. If I pop the collar and my hair is down, I feel messy and the effect is lost....

Wow! So great to see so many responses, do you pop it up all the way or just at the back? I like to put mine up at the back if it's a polo but all the way up if it's anything else!! How do you guys like to wear it? I've also noticed what's cute is my daughter has copied my style popping her collar, and my son had his up the other day too!! Lol sooo cute! Xx

It depends on the collar how I pop it. If it's a narrower collar I just pop the whole thing up. But then you have to be careful if you have a light shirt so you don't get makeup on it....

Oh yes. But not so high like in the 80's. I tend to pop up a little of the rear collar area when I wear a buttondown with a coat, cardi, blazer or jumper.
I also love the look of the front collar a little tussled. One sort of up and the other sort of down. This I find spices up an otherwise bland shirt.
Also a few of my white shirts have small collars that look sexy I think, especially when raised.
Love the look though. Yay.
What do you ladies think about a nice little knot at the shirt's front? Perhaps that's worth a separate forum entry to hear from others too.

I'm not a popper but I noticed in one of Angie's photos that her collar was popped under a jacket and it looked really nice. Must give it a try.

Great question! I have popped my collar on occasion, but I'm noticing a trend for the semi-popped collar! I think that BR is intentionally popping one side of the collar (model's right side) in many of their photos. I'm not on board at this moment, but if we can semi-tuck, why not semi-pop

I love the look of a popped collar, though I don't always do it. I think it has to be part of a conscious look overall to look good.
The reason why I found this website in the first place was when I searched for whether one should pop the collar when wearing a shirt with a jacket (but that's a bit different from your question, as you are talking about a shirt worn on its own, right?)

I have short hair and a long neck and I quite often pop my collar. I always pop a polo shirt. If I wear a shirt under a crew neck sweater, I pop the collar. One if my fave looks is a crisp shirt, not buttoned all the way up, a silk scarf tied like a tie, and a blazer over that.

This is one of those things I've never understood, outside of preppy frat boys in 80s movies. It just looks like your collar is askew to me, especially the half done ones like the BR example. But then I've literally never seen anyone in real life with a popped collar. I suspect that if I tried it people would tell me that my collar was messed up, just like they did the few times I tried a semi-tuck.

I usually pop my coat collar - it's just something I've always done, but I've sometimes had some "helpful" stranger turn it down for me when sitting on a bus or train!
