I'm really liking this blog that pairs up a vintage photo, movie stills, retro runway looks with what is being shown today. This is exactly how I look at trends and shop. I look for a throughline I like.

oh man, do I ever like that Alice Gregory article. A protagonist is exactly what I think of myself as and I love the idea of dressing so blankly that people can project belongingness unto you. And I've come across that cartoon character analogy before. Now if only I could figure one out.

"Death Becomes Her" An exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York about fashions and funeral attire mourning dress from 1815 to 1915 including mourning gowns worn by Queen Victoria and Queen Alexandra. The slideshow alone is fascinating.

I'm very pleased to see that the darker sides of fast fashion is up to debate in the forum. There surely must be something we can do. A little is better than nothing the way I see it.

Suz and Ingunn - I agree that a lot of small steps could amount to something bigger, so it's great that we are talking about this on the forum too.
