Please help me find a casual dress for high summer.

I'd like to add another summer dress to my high summer capsule for casual wear. My criteria

* cotton

*sleeveless but not spagetti strap

*not white

* somehow interesting / on trend.

* for very hot wealther, so no collars or waistbands

Here are a couple I was considering, though I'm not sure if they really hit the mark. The chambray one sold out in my size (and most sizes) today, it seems.

Do I remember correctly that you do some sewing? A sleeveless pullover shift should be very easy to make.

Thanks Sally, I appreciate such a fast response. I may consider getting a dress like the second one as well as a sleeveless one.

Dress 3 is so like one I already have. Amazing! I wore it on Sunday. I don't like collars though, above 35 C.

Have you checked Asos? They are 30% off everything including sale today only (for click frenzy). Lots of dresses to choose from, but probably not many cotton (tend to me more viscose). You could get a selection and send back the ones you don't want. It's free to return now. Lots of other click frenzy deals around tonight too - witchery, sportsgirl, David Lawrence, the iconic. It's overwhelming!

I bemoan Trenery's price and quality, but tend to feel inspired by their modern classic take... does this inspire? There are quite a few trims in the fabric stores if you took the sewing route.

Brooklyn, thanks I checked out Asos after your suggestion and couldn't quite find one that was what I was after. The viscose thing is so pervasive though, that i may have to reconsider..(as in the dress I linked to above)

I always go past Jeanswest in the shopping centre, and thought of you with this dress. It's Tencel (which I love) not cotton. And I'd wait for a sale deal. Anyway- good luck in the search!

I really like the last one you posted, Anne. The light blue would be very pretty on you and the neckline looks very modest to me.

Yes, I saw the last ezibuy dress in the catalogue, too. I think you could use the eyelets and lace to bring the neckline a little closer if needed, but I think it would be fine anyway. I think it could work well for you.
There also seem to be lots of light, loose dresses at the markets, and our swimwear shop (Soaked) has great casual summer dresses, too.

ecteacher I wanted to say thanks for your suggestion. A very reasonably priced dress for Country Road. I really like it and hope your putting it on the thread might be helpful for someone else. For myself I have learnt to my peril that dresses like that need a bigger bust than mine! But thanks.

I have to be careful with those open v- necks and even lace ups in summer tops if dresses. If they really are too low, I can't wear without tank top and then that defeats the hot weather purpose. I do the bend forward test and such, because they'll often look fine when adjusted just so, but then....
It just depends on the style, so worth trying, but I have to remind myself to be realistic.

Anne, a different vibe, but just found this brand Cotton Diva at this conference I am at... nearly every woman has gone in and bought a top or dress... they are really flattering, non crush, and breathable. A little boho but not too much and I am pretty much corporate drag most of the time... I've had a look. As you say a little boho, but I think I could find something that appeals. I'll look further there if my current order turns out not to be what I'm after.
