I found this jacket at Nordstroms today and have my size on order. It seems like an age-appropriate piece for an older woman who would like to wear plaid. I hope to wear the jacket under another coat as an indoor top over a shell. What do you think? Could this work? The fabric is taffeta-like.

Thank you all for your comments. Angie, I like the idea of swapping out the belt. It will be less coat-like that way. Rute, I tried it on wearing black jeans and it looked great but should look good with dark wash jeans and with black pants and pencil skirt as you suggested.
