I exchanged the white ATL sleeveless top for the next size smaller and bought one in deep coral also (since they were marked down to $14.99).

I'm not sure what kind of cropped cardigans work well with an hourglass figure but I found this on the ATL sale rack as well.

What a difference one size smaller can make. I like your idea of starting with the smallest size and go up. I have a tendency to just grab one size I thought I am and discard it when it doesn't fit, I might have missed something great.

I am a personal fan of cropped cardis in any shape and style on hourglass figures. You look great.
