Petite sizing question

I am not a petite but I am really loving a pair of pants that are only available in my size in petites. The inseam length is adjustable so I am wondering if this still might work? Oh, also, the hip width is the same and the rise is 1" shorter on petite, but I think I am short waisted. Should I go ahead and try or am I overlooking something obvious?

Worth a try! The rise is usually the problem for me. That's why I usually end up in the regular sizes. On the occasions that I have tried petites--I often need a size up. YMMV.

It depends on how adjustable the inseam is, I would think. But I second Kellygirl in that I often end up sizing up in petites because everything tends to be cut a little slimmer throughout.

Worth a try...it all depends on the rise. Although I'm only 5'3", I need a regular size in most pants because I have a long rise. And then I have to hem them...

i'd be very careful. generally if I wear a 2 in a "regular", I wear a 4P in the same brand. in addition, the rise is much shorter. i'd only order if its returnable.

Thank you all! They are returnable...do you think it's worth it to size up in a petite? I did go for the size up in regulars and they were much too large.

Perhaps I will try simply to understand the petites-rise issue for future knowledge...

It's worth a try if returnable. I'm 5'3" and need petite rises or I'll have the waist band constructing my ribs.

I've found that with some brands, the difference between the Petite and Regular sizing is a whole size, and with others it is a half size. Petite legs may also be cut a little slimmer. If I can, I order two sizes in Petites and two sizes in Regulars, especially if it is a non-faded slim cut style. It's hard on the pocketbook until returns can be made, however.

You don't mention your height. If you are 5'4" - 5'6", it could work, especially if you have a short rise, though it might still be safest to size up. If you're taller than that, I'm afraid you'll be out of luck. In my experience, it's easier for petites to wear regular length pants than vice-versa. As everyone has said, however, it's worth a try and I hope they work!

Doesn't hurt to try. It really depends on the item. I'm petite and sometimes petite pants fit me best and sometimes regular is best. I rarely buy petite for jeans but petites are often better for dress pants. Order one size up from what you would wear in regular....petites fit smaller.
