Peasant Girl Outfit

Inspired by the beautiful summer weather we're having here, I'm donning bright colors. Is this outfit too loud?

I'm also wondering about the skirt length. I've read recommendations here and there to stick to knee-length a-line skirts, but I think this works for me...I just don't want to look too ridiculous wearing stuff like this when my 40th birthday is just around the corner, lol :)

I love the top and sandals not too loud at all. I'm not much good with skirt lengths hopefully Angie will chime in x

Thank you, Loulou!

You are lovely, your hair, your skin tone..
I love the top.. it's a gorgeous color on you, as to the skirt, I think is too much.. too much color, too long, too 70s.
I think you can pull a colorfull skirt but maybe in a different pattern and knee lenght.

I'm with Rute on this one. That top is a gorgeous colour on you. I don't think the skirt is too loud, but I'd prefer a somewhat updated look and something knee-length (although I think you can get away with longer skirts too).
Cute sandals too;-)

Thanks, ladies. I appreciate your input. I'm off to find a better skirt.

My goodness you look half your age. 40 around the coner? Must be something good in the drinking water.
I LOVE the color combo you are wearing. The skirt I know is controversial for it's length and the amount of fabric going on. I think that this kind of skirt is not my favorite but you do pull it off well. The one you have has delicious colors. If it is not Angie approved, can you shorten it?

Thanks, San :) With my beige haircolor, the gray isn't as contrasty...but believe me, it's there!

I could definitely shorten the skirt (I sew), but am afraid it would be rather poofy if I did so. Kind of like this, lol. Ok, perhaps my outfit IS too similar to that. Yikes.

Oh ha ha. That is a funny picture.
I'm sure the skirt is fine as it is if you love it. I am a fabric lover myself so I am always tempted by the skirts like that with alot of fabric in them. If it makes you feel happy, wear it and enjoy it. That'smy 2cents.

I think the outfit looks lovely--the bright colors, to me, are perfect for summer! I do agree with Inge, though, that a modern looking skirt might polish your outfit up a bit more. That aside, weren't mid-calf length floaty skirts popular just a few years ago? I know I love how airy and cool they keep me in the summer heat. Even if the skirt isn't as well suited as a knee-length one might be, I don't think it's something that would cause people to stop and say, "Yikes, where'd she get *that* from?!" if you were to go out in public. :)

Welcome to the forum! I really like your top and you have a great figure. Lucky you!

As far as the length of the skirt goes, it’s not as flattering as something shorter. Calf length skirts *can* work, when they’re really funky. This post might help explain why:
