Pearls: White or Cream?

I am finding myself so inspired by Angie's re-introducing of her pearls that I would like to add some chunky pearls back into my own wardrobe.
Here's my question to you all: some pearls are available in a true white color and a more "antique" cream shade. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-.....038;ie=UTF...

Apart from the bizarre price differential, what advice can you offer on whether to choose white or cream? My coloring argues for white, but does the white look too synthetic, like teeth that have been bleached way beyond what looks believable?

What has been your experience with pearl options?

My pearls are off white or grey, off white flatters my skin tone more than true white. Which is most prevalent in your wardrobe?

If your teeth and eye whites are also bright white and you are a crisp winter (with great contrast) coloring, I say go for the white. Other wise I only have cream pearls-as this is obviously not my case at all-and I do use them mostly in the colder seasons-and yes, cream feels a bit more natural to me, even matched to crisp bright white tops. My style is not that formal or quirky, so I do like a bright white glass pendant for summer worn on a tanned skin, better.

Then there is the gold/silver dilemma, too. The cream/off white pearls usually have gold hardware(if needed) and the bright whites have silver ones.

The pearls in my necklace are a peachy cream, and my pearl bracelet pearls are ivory. Personally, I prefer the softer tone of creamy ones, and I think they look more authentic, but I can see someone wanting that crisp white for a certain style, very sharp and dramatic.

What will you typically wear them with?

My pearls are all more traditional antique-cast and they do not read as new and fresh as the oversized whiter strands that are having their fab return. I don't think it's about looking "real." If I purchase, they will be white and statement-making in size.

I like my pearls as white as can be, because it brings out the white in my eyes, hair and teeth. But have cream strands too.

Other opinions seem split, so I will most likely try the whiter pearls. I do prefer that look, even though it's more "frankly fake" -- no one imagines that anyone's oversized pearls are real these days anyway (unless you're Barbara Bush) no matter what color they are.

I prefer an off-white to a stark white, but in the link you posted, the cream version feels very dark and vintage-y. I'd order the white and then try them out against your skin tone and maybe a few items of clothing.

I like the cream a little better, and would choose it even if my colouring was wintery. Just personal preference.

Is that BETH? My old friends Beth and Lisa on the same thread? It may be more wonderfulness than I can handle. (Beth, are you still school psychologizing? We were both wondering about a career change a while back, and I did change, from school psych to... nothing. Not sure how I feel about that, but I'm not certified in school psych in my new state and here, the field is less about getting kids with disabilities services they need and more about fighting with wealthy, entitled parents about why their kids aren't eliglble for the gifted program.)

Actually, the ones I linked to are not the ones I originally wanted. I wanted these: http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-.....38;qid=145... , but when you look at them in the photo on the mannequin's neck, they are truly gigantic. Not sure I could pull that off, and even if I could, if I could take that weight on my neck.
