Panicked Procrastinator! ETA update

I am hearing the 'Priceline Negotiator' tune in the back of my head except with the words 'Panicked Procrastinator'.

We leave.....first thing tomorrow morning......for a long weekend in Vail. Having never been there I'm in a bit of a tizzy.

Of course the important thing is that the dog arrangements are all set. She'll have someone here to look after her

My primary concern is what to wear to the late Saturday afternoon wedding which is the reason for the trip. Weather forecast is pretty much 80 for the entire weekend but I've read it can drop to around 40 in the evenings. Chance of rain. The dress is set in stone - my black EF drape front dress with the black pumps. Necklace will either be short double pearls or a short black beady thing.

My options are:
1. the gray metallic wrap, which I totally forgot I even had until I was pulling a coat out of the closet tonight. Oops.
2. Black wrap
3. Black Bobeau full length cardi. The picture doesn't really show it but the blacks aren't an exact match. The cardi is a bit lighter.
I'm leaning toward the black wrap. I think the cardigan would be an easier wear but fear it is a little to reminiscent of Margaret Hamilton in the Wizard of Oz.

And......may I also take advantage of your collective good natures and ask for thoughts on the remainder of what I'm thinking of taking? I called both of the venues for the Thursday and Friday dinners to ask about attire and was told 'western casual'.

Thursday is travel and dinner.
Travel - Green ankle pants, olive Madewell tee, leopard sneakers and cashmere hoodie.
Dinner - Black crepe EF ankle pants, black Dobbin tank, white EF sweater and FS Holts.

Friday is rafting and another dinner.
Rafting gear is all set for the most part.
Friday dinner - white Kut jeans with either gold BR sweatshirt or EF linen blouse OR maybe with the white tank with the white EF sweater.

And because I always overpack I may throw in my white Kut shorts, EF blue linen top, and cobalt drape front dress just because.

Do you see any holes or ridiculous repeats? Sorry about the individual photos, I haven't figured out how to make collages on my new iPad yet.

I like the metallic wrap! I agree, though, that the cardigan isn't the best option with that dress. Either wrap is good.

Oh good. You should be fine with the wrap and likely will not need it. I like metallic the best, but the black looks nice if that's what you prefer. The other things you're packing look good for summer in the mountains! Have fun! Don't forget to factor in a little extra time for your return trip on I70! It can backup pretty easily.

I think you are set with the dress and the wrap-- as far as your other outfits go, please bring a light jacket -- Vail is higher than where I am now and it was chilly last night.

My vote goes to the metallic wrap in #2 as well. The rest of your capsule looks great to me too!

Elly, I do have a light weight parka packed. Not very stylish, but it is hooded so hopefully will serve its purpose. Thank you for the heads up.

I like the wrap in #2 the best, but the black one is nice also. It can be chilly in the evenings but warm during the day in the mountains so I think you have plenty of options. The weather can change fast so layers are always nice.

Did you say overpack!?....Did i hear overpack!? HIGH 5!!!
I'm notorious for overpacking for every trip I've ever been to in my life....no kidding! Getting to the point - I agree with everyone here, #2 looks great on you and i love the metallic wrap, specially the fact that it makes you look elegant and classy in an instant.
As for your travel capsule, it looks like you've got everything in place and it seems like it has the perfect mix of cool-tones & warm-tones thrown in there... so that's awesome.

Another vote for the metallic wrap, but may I suggest that you also pack the black cardigan, or some other long-sleeved coat or jacket, just in case? I went to an early September wedding in Colorado once; the ceremony was held on a terrace, and it snowed! The poor bride shivered in a satin slip dress and pashmina, but I was swathed in several layers (easily discarded indoors at the reception) and quite comfy.

Update:

Took the metallic wrap though I really only needed it when the venue doors were opened during a rainstorm.
I wore nearly everything that I packed! I threw in my cobalt EF dress, which, along with my long sleeved linen blouse and I white tank I ended up not wearing.
And yes, Vail is beautiful! I survived the rafting trip, we went to the Saturday market at Minturn and the wedding was lovely.

I'm paying more attention to how wardrobe items do or do not help make travel packing easy.
