I've spent fairly big money on plain black Majestic Paris tees (a bit over $100 each) and have not regretted it. They stay super dark black, keep their shape, have the perfect crew neck (neither too high nor too low), and last many years. I had one that looked great for nine years! I always have two in my closet, but I don't need more. Most of my tees (and I wear tees a lot) are more in the $50 range. Cheaper ones tend not to drape well, or they are too boxy, or they just look cheap. I'm sure there are exceptions though.

I'm not sure that I'd be willing to fork over $200 for a tee, though, since I can get the quality I want for less. I tend to save my splurges for things like shoes and jackets.

I bought an expensive tee once, from Joie. It was a soft pink linen tee. I wore it to work and to all kinds of occasions and always felt wonderful in it. It's a good thing I wore it so much because the second season it got holes.

The Everlane U-neck tee looks a lot like the Helmut Lang one you showed in the finds.
