Package misdelivery

Just venting. I ordered a clarinet from eBay for my DD, and it was supposedly delivered to my front door at 4:30 pm. I got home from work at 5:15. No package anywhere. I called UPS, they researched it and called back to say the guy left it behind the flowerpot at my front door. I don't have a flowerpot. I checked the ftont again and there it was. It miraculously appeared. I told the UPS rep to talk to the guy because the person who normally delivers to my house knows me, as he also makes deliveries to my office. He wouldn't have done anything stupid like that. My DD and I theorize that this guy, whoever he is, delivered to our next-door neighbor's house (he has flowerpots) and quickly retrieved it to get it to my door. At least we have the instrument. My poor DD was pretty upset about it.

I'm glad the package was redelivered to your house. Mis-delivered packages are always nerve wracking.

Our neighborhood has had more than its fair share of misdeliveries, mostly by the U.S. Postal Service. It's downright maddening because the addresses are clearly marked--each mailbox has the owner's house # on top. No one could deliver to the wrong house unless he/she were incompetent.

Oh, I hate it when this happens. Glad the package was found!

My old apartment was 6 xxxx st, apt 10, but there was also a 10 xxxx st apt 6 in the same complex (but different entrances) and my packages got misdelivered there with alarming regularity. One of them was my wedding dress!

Some delivery people are the worst... I also know my usual guy, you can bet if there's trouble it was a stand-in.

I'm interested, what kind of clarinet did you buy? Is your DD a beginner? I'm playing clarinet too and even posted a discussion in Off Topic a while ago when it came to buying my own.

We bought a Vito. After taking piano lessons for a few years and then playing flute in middle school concert and jazz bands, my DD has decided to try the clarinet. She researched the brand beforehand and asked her friends, who are in high school band.

You're not kidding! My DD was already getting upset. I'm not really sure if the delivery man retrieved the package from the wrong house and brought it to my doorstep, or if one of my neighbors kindly brought it. I ran into the normal UPS guy today, and he said he was off that day. I knew it wasn't him anyway, lol.
