OT: What color handbag would go with everything?

I have couple of black handbags(which is my prefered color for accessories), one plum one(the one I posted the other day) and one in navy. I kind of want a neutral bag that goes with most of the things i own that is NOT black. And my other ones(plum and navy) don't really go with EVERYTHING.
I don't want light color(as I find that I always get dirt and whatsnot on anything light colored) so some sort of darker neutral. FYI, I wear a lot of jewel tone colors and black.
My mom(who is very much into fashion) suggested dark wine/burgundy or very dark brown. Or another option is metallic. What do you think?

Pewter would be my suggestion as well. My second suggestion would be navy. FWIW, I don't like to pair my burgundy nor brown purses with my jewel tones.

Taupe or pewter would be my suggestion.

But, just to throw a wrench in there have you ever considered that a bright colour can be a neutral? For me, red and (surprisingly) bright yellow can serve this function. I wore my bright yellow bag with everything this spring and am wearing it well into summer. It is amazing what it looks good with.

Ana and Angie: I am afraid that light colors in handbags is just not for me. I used to own cheapo light taupe bag which I really liked but in a matter of weeks it was covered in all kinds of dark marks. So while i think it looks good, its just not practical enough for me.
Thanks for pewter suggestion though. I may consider that.

Suz: I thought about brights but not sure...I guess I have to try it on at the store or something and see how it looks

Neutral snake print! My tan / taupe / cream faux snake print goes with everything! The print will also help to cover any stains or marks.

I'm not a big lover of handbags, & want fewer rather than more. That said, last fall I bought a metallic snakeskin clutch, & have been amazed that it goes with almost everything. I had no idea it would be so versatile. And I've been wearing it year round.

I vote for pewter and snake. I have a sandish colored bag and it goes with everything and has not gotten any marks after about 2 months. Don't know why. So maybe the light blue one was a material that took marks quickly?

I'm not sure a bright would work as a neutral with your particular wardrobe. My snake bag fights with some of my bolder more graphic prints, so consider that. I have a silver bag that I absolutely loved and wore with EVERYTHING for several years. The only thing it didn't look great with were tans/khaki/SSB (but I purged those colors anyway). Pewter is a darker version of silver, so it gets my vote.

I love the idea of wine, burgundy, or a deep purple if you're comfortable trying a color based on the colors we usually see you wear. I actually don't really do neutral handbags very often; I tend to buy a color that's versatile and works with most of the colors in my wardrobe, which is why I'm surprised to find that my mustard handbag goes with so much.

Pewter would absolutely get my vote for a metallic! I especially think it would look cool with an outfit/color palette like this: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-out-a-tie

Another vote for pewter. Mine spans seasons well too. Another bag that went with everything until I wore it out was a lighter silvery shade of gray/taupe that just had a suggestion of metallic.

Pewter vote here, too. My convertible clutch/small crossbody is pewter and it goes with everything I've paired it with so far.
That said, my purple Sutter seems to go with my wardrobe just as well.

I love the idea of a cognac/tobacco bag for you. It looks great against black and would work really well with the colors that you wear most often.

Red but more cranberry or I have a light brown, for lack of a better description, which I wear with everything except in summer.but I don't wear turquoise, pinks or white

I love my dark grey bag but it is close to black. Pewter would be amazing as a neutral. I just tossed out my beloved pewter ballet flats after two years of sporting them with every color of the rainbow. It's a neutral with punch.

I have a gunmetal color bag that I absolutely love. I don't like a silver bag, but a gunmetal is fab as is bronze or deep gray . Good luck in finding one.
