OT: need prayers/good wishes for my doctor's visit tomorrow

Tomorrow I am going to see a dermatologist for odd reddish scaly spot on my leg which is possibly actinic keratosis(precancerous type spot) and i am kind of freaked. I guess I need good wishes and prayers... Did anyone ever had one of these? If you did tell me what happened in terms of treatment

I had a strange scaly spot that turned out to be nummular eczema... still not the best thing ever, but the point of my story is there are plenty of weird things that the skin does without cancer. Hugs and best wishes for your appointment!

I hope it all goes well for you. I've had numerous skin issues over the years. None of them precancerous or cancerous, thank goodness, but difficult to treat nonetheless. I hope it's not precancerous and that there is an effective treatment for whatever it happens to be. Keep us posted! I want to know how you're doing.

most times this can be treated with a shave biopsy.sometimes it needs deeper
excision. you amy end upw ith a stitch or two ( or not). best wishes! you should do great.

Victoria, by being vigilant, you are doing the right thing. Hopefully, it's a minor skin issue and can be easily remedied. Yes, I've had a couple of things removed; one was frozen and the other had to be cut out with stitches, but neither was a big deal. Thinking of you and keep us posted.

It could end up being a type of eczema. I have dark scaly patches and a recent one that quite worried me but they were eczema. I did have a mole removed that was carcenoma but it wasn't that bad. I am just more careful now.

With luck, it will just be a dermatitis thing and all will be well. Thinking good thoughts for you.

I have a mess on my arm, which I can remember first seeing in about 7th grade--after having it frozen off several times, it was finally diagnosed when I was nearly 30 as actinic keratosis (basal cell carcinoma). I have had it removed two times since then (I'm 43 now) . . . but it's back again. Sigh.

The great news is that it is tiny (about 1/8 x 1/4"), and although it is cancer of a kind, mine is really NOT DANGEROUS--just an ugly souvenir of too many sunburns as a kid at the cabin.

Don't panic, my dear. Many other less scary diagnoses are also possible, but even the "worst" is probably not so bad. <<hugs>>

Best thoughts for you. I had a spot on my face once and the dermatologist left the room and came back and sprayed me with some freezing solution (the liquid nitrogen) with no warning. Pretty scary, but it did heal pretty quickly and facial skin is thicker than legs. Likely they will zap it similarly or slice for a biopsy. Either way you'll get some cream and dressing. Shouldn't be too bad. Just the scary part if you have to wait for some results.
