About your wardrobe and personal style

OT: I could ram my head into a wall right now

I just realized tonight that the manager at the last Anthropologie I interviewed with asked me to fill out an online survey (like a workplace personality survey) and I COMPLETELY forgot about it until today, more than 2 weeks later! No wonder they never called. I filled it out anyway but it probably looks really bad that I took so long to do it. I know it's my fault and I was careless about it, so I'm not blaming anyone or asking for sympathy...just venting my frustration....

Serves me right for putting the note in a purse I never use.

Oopsies!

Maybe Anthro just wasn't meant to be?

Sorry about that, Maya, I know it feels awful. But maybe you'll come across something better soon. Things seem to be picking up.

I am sorry. There is always a chance that they haven't gotten around to looking through all the surveys and made final decisions yet.

AAAARGH!! That's so frustrating, Maya...But try not to beat yourself up over it. Like I said, things happen for a reason. Glad you had somewhere safe to vent, though...I bet you needed that!

Oh dear. How awful. Wish I could give you a hug!

Oh dear. I don’t know how others feel but perhaps you can call them and mention your oopsie daisy?

I'm not sure if that would help or hurt. If I had a legitimate reason, and was concerned enough to call about it, I guess that would be a good thing. But calling and just saying "I forgot" just seems lame. They'll probably figure that out without me having to inform them. I'm certainly not one to lie about it.

I don't know...not calling them might be interpreted as being cavalier or not understanding instructions. But, by calling them, you run the risk of alerting them to the fact that you were late if there is a chance they didn't notice. Sorry, I am no help. Just thinking out aloud. My personal approach would be the ostrich in the sand type denial.

My thoughts exactly Elpgal. I'm pretty sure they noticed I'm late since they said they would get back to me in a week, implying that I should have filled it out within that same week. I'm still not entirely sure what I would even say, since the truth is pretty stupid.

Well, on the flip side, I will be spending the better part of Tuesday running around Manhattan on a marathon of application filling. I'll probably try the other two Anthropologies (I am very persistent) and Urban Outfitters. SOMETHING has to come through.

Maya, how frustrating. I hope that the other Anthropologie, UO or J Crew positions pan out. I've had my fingers crossed for you over here. Please just keep trying & don't lose hope. (Also, I really love the outfit you wore for your J Crew interview.)

My boyfriend has been going through a similar period of unemployment & discouraging job searching for the past 8 months, and it is absolutely awful to not be able to do much to help.

I'm sorry about your boyfriend Kari. I sympathize very much. November will be my 8th month too. I have absolutely NO confidence anymore and it has really taken a toll on my will to even be a designer, so I am just taking a break for now. I decided to take a retail job so I can work somewhere where I regain some confidence, get some new references, and keep myself busy with something other than agonizing over why no one likes my work.

Oh, sorry about that Maya. I love your persistence and plan. Something simply has to come through that way. All the very best of luck.
