Happy holiday everyone!

I am very excited for he fireworks in DC. A friend is having a rooftop potluck party with an excellent view. I am baking white chocolate almond brownies with raspberries and blueberries - red, white and blue, like Angie's post today

That is so nice , Harmonica, thank you. We celebrated the 4th last Saturday ( because everyone could make it that day ). It was very funny because we ate a lot of Portuguese food...and all but two of us, are immigrants. That somehow seemed "American"....

We're going to a barbecue at a friend's house, and we're thinking about joining my sister to see the big fireworks show on Lake Union in Seattle.

I'm a bit sad to have to work tomorrow, but it was great to have a break today. And a rarity - it's actually rather sunny here! (We are very used to having a rainy 4th of July. Usually the weather perks up the following weekend.)

Happy Independence Day to everyone! We are supposed to go to a family party but my kids are off to summer camp for two weeks (leaving Sunday) and I don't feel like they are quite ready. This is my only day off before that so we are thinking of skipping that, grilling at home and packing bags.

Rocking some Tom Petty Amercan Girl this morning as I catch up on YLF and try to avoid some housework lol.

You all seem to make the best out of the day and I'd love to see fireworks, barbeque and eat cake!

Ops, I forgot about the time difference, so my post was probably in the middle of the night and now I'm off to bed.

Immigrant background is indeed common, not only in the US. My father is originally from Philadelphia, but has origin from Europe.
