I like it! It wouldn't hurt to try and I had good luck ordering from Lands End Canvas - as well as the regular Lands End. I had to return something from Lands End (the sizing for regular LE tends to run big), and it was fairly easy for me - just dropped it off at a local Sears store.
Just for the record, a size medium in Lands End turned out to be too big on me (striped knit top), and a size large for a "boyfriend" silk shirt from Lands End Canvas fit nicely. I usually wear a size 8-10, though more a 10 lately due to pesky weight battles. I don't know if I'd be a medium or a large in general Lands End Canvas stuff, the size large shirt I got was a boyfriend style, so I wanted it larger and a bit slouchier. And it's not that large on me...slouchy-ish, but not too big, so I'd say LE Canvas is cut a bit more TTS.
Back to the trench - I really like the looks of this one....and I am not normally one for khaki/beige - but this one looks like it's a good colour, not "soul sucking" , at least not on my monitor.
I don't know if you have a Sears nearby at all, but if you do - that makes any returns a little easier to deal with.
(note to self: you do *not* need yet another trench coat).
