Hi Everyone!

I am interested in possibly purchasing this handbag:

It's kind of a pearlescent taupe color. I know khaki isn't flattering, but is this different? And do you all think it's a good warm weather/spring and summer purse? I really like it, but I'm kind of terrible at choosing purses, and usually over-conservative in my decisions about them. I only want to get this bag if it's really great and versatile.

I'm really liking all the "nude" color accessories around, especially shoes and handbags.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thank you again!

I really like the bag Ana, I think it would work well either with the bright colors that you wear or more nude shades that are coming for spring. It is sophisticated and not boring. Why does everyone think khaki and taupe are not flattering? They have always really worked for me and I have seen them look great on certain skin, hair combos Probably a new thread, sorry. I love the bag!.

beautiful! the design and hardware are eye-catching, but not over the top.

the zipper option is great in my book (things don't fall out, minimize pick-pocketing while traveling, keep things dry during rain)...

can you try it out somewhere? i'm wondering about the double shoulder straps; sometimes the outer one can slip off the shoulder--but that's probably just my problem!

not sure if this matters or not: does the size, shape and length/width flatter your body type? maybe i read something about this somewhere, though i'm not sure...it appears pretty flattering overall.

Ana, I really like this bag--I'm glad you showed the photo of the bag on the model's shoulder, becuase it looks much smaller on it's own.

I like the color for you. I think it will work well with your wardrobe and personal coloring. I'd just be cautious not to color my hair that exact shade. It would probably complete the "2 of the same color per outfit" rule.

I think it's a very pretty color (and quite different from khaki, irrespective of what one thinks of khaki) and I can imagine it working well for you. But you might want to give us more info on how you'd wear this bag. Would this be your primary or only daytime bag? If so, does it work with your wardrobe including jackets?
I'm with you on the appeal of nude accessories. Are you thinking about buying shoes in nude? If so, the bag might be too similar.
One more thought: You have also talked about being drawn to 1) black and white color combos (which the bag might be a little low in contrast for), and 2) brighter colors like coral, citron, some blues (for those the bag would work nicely.) Sorry, lots of considerations, just some food for thought.

Greenglove, I think you are able to wear khaki successfully because of your lovely red hair. There is enough of a contrast that it doesn't wash you out. Since my hair is blonde (normally), the color isn't very flattering on me.

Antje, to answer your questions, this wouldn't be my primary or only daytime bag. I'm trying to kind of build up a small purse collection to wear with different outfits. I definitely wouldn't wear it with nude shoes, but some other color...maybe black or cream. I would wear it as you suggest, with brighter colors like coral, or neutrals like black or navy. Thanks for all the questions, it makes me think!

That bag is gorgeous Ana and the color is definitely not khaki, in a good way. I think it would be wonderful with all the pretty bright colors you wear, such as coral.

I've been thinking about handbags for me, and I feel that I tend to wear a lot of "dramatic" or "statement" clothing, so having a lot of statement bags probably wouldn't work, since you can only really have one per outfit. I think I will be looking for bags that have nice detailing in more "neutral" colors, but aren't the star of the show, you know? I'm still trying to figure this bag and shoe thing out, so all of your opinions are especially helpful to me.

I'm probably in the same boat as you. I feel that I wear so much color I have to steer myself away from statement color bags and towards more neutrals. And then I also tend to get overly conservative. Argh.

How are you liking your red patent tote with zippers?

I LOVE my red patent tote, thanks for asking. It's perfect! I always carry it if I'm wearing neutrals, because it adds just the right amount of interest and pop to my outfit. I'd also eventually like to get a yellow bag for wearing with neutrals, especially this summer. I'm still on the lookout for that one. I also think I need a black bag since I have no black bag, and probably a white one for this summer. It's definitely a process though. I rarely see a pair of shoes or a handbag and think, "I LOVE that bag/shoe, I must have it." Usually it's just kind of, "Well, this will work." But then I'm the opposite on things like blouses and dresses, I love them all. I guess we all have our "thing" we really like.

Ana, it's beautiful! It will go with so much as a metallic neutral. Also, it will wear really well and hold up. I have (gulp) two bags by the designer and have carried so much in them and they continue to amaze me. You will not be sorry!

Ana, I bought a bag last summer that is close to the color of the one you posted. I was looking for cream but found the "pearlescent taupe" with crackle finish. It goes with almost everything as a neutral, and I'm even using it this winter when wearing a dark outfit.
Think whether you really would use a black bag that much. I no longer own one except an evening clutch and don't miss it. If any color seems dull, it's black.
