Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Opinions on this dress

I'm currently clearing out my wardrobe for autumn and am posting up some photos of clothes that I am unsure of. I bought this dress last summer in the sales and have only worn it twice since then: once on a date with my bf and once to a party with my uni friends. I like the 'prom dress' look of it but sometimes I feel the print is too loud. Also I am unsure of the neckline on it as to whether it is too lowcut.

Here is the dress: http://s396.photobucket.com/al.....C11051.jpg

I think that I might remove the black ribbon from the dress

and with a black cardigan over it: http://s396.photobucket.com/al.....C11053.jpg

I think it's a very pretty dress, and looks really good on you. It is quite dressy with the tulle showing in the hem, but so what? You're lucky to have a dressy dress at your disposal. The cardi def. takes it down a notch--but I think I prefer it w/out--as a summer dress. You could even wear it to a summer wedding.

I agree with Nicole -- the dress looks lovely on you. I don't think that the print is loud at all. If you want to make it more casual, wear it with the cardigan. If you feel like the neckline is too low, try it with a camisole -- something not to high and maybe a bit sheer black so that it goes with the dressiness of the dress.

Hi tassajara. You look lovely in the dress. It would be a shame for you to get rid of it. The tulle at the bottom I've seen one time before and the wearer did not let it get in the way of dressing it down with flat sandals in the summer.

You look very nice in that dress. I'm not sure you could dress it down very much because of the neckline (which isn't too low cut but is definitely a statement). I don't know that a camisole would look right, but you could definitely try it out. I think wearing flats or flat sandals would help. I would wear it anyway regardless of it being a bit dressy. I agree with Nicole that it is definitely a summer dress and the cardigan doesn't do too much for it. I wouldn't toss it out :)

I love love love this dress. Don't throw it out! I agree with the others that the cardi doesn't help - maybe a shawl/wrap would be more approriate if you had to have coverage.
Don't remove the black ribbon - it helps make the dress.

I am going wedding outfit shopping soon, and am going to keep the image of this dress in mind becuause it was so lovely.

I think San is right - you can dress it down with flat sandals

Re the neckline - I do think it could do with a bit more coverage - worth trying a cami - but then I tend to go for a fairly modest look so that might influence this opinion

Thanks, I'll pack it away for the winter and bring it out again next summer! Hopefully there will be some sunshine then. :-)
