Opinions on belt and colors

I am trying to experiment with belts again. what do you guys think? Honestly should I give up on the whole belt thing?

Also I wanted to get opinions on this color combo. Is it too harsh for white bottoms? The cardi is J Crew that a few of you own and it's very bright cobalt color. Maybe I should add something white on the top part?

Marianne, I like the belt on you. Is there a reason you don't feel comfortable with belts?

I like the cobalt cardi with the white bottoms, but I would go with a different colored top underneath, such as white or yellow. I think the black under the cardi muddies things up a bit.

I agree with Becky...what's your issue with the belt that you're trying to work around? I think it looks cute on you and adds definition to your waist. You're a rectangle, if I remember correctly. Belts are a great thing for that body type. You look so cute in those clam diggers! That outfit looks cute with the belt. I have trouble with belts personally because I don't like messing with them and end up taking them off.

The sapphire cardi looks great with the white bottoms! I agree with Becky to try a yellow cami. Or you could wear a white shirt and wear yellow shoes or carry a yellow bag. The right shade of green might also work with that cardigan as well.

Thank you ladies! I know belts are recommended for waist definition, and I don't have a problem with belted coats or jackets, but I feel very square with a belt over a top - at least that's what I see in the mirror. I like the look, it's just I never felt I could make it work for me.

The cobalt color is VERY bright and that's why I was hesitant about pairing it up with another color. I'll give it a shot. I think Ana owns the same cardi and we discussed possible cami colors before... but I didn't expect the color to be this overpowering.

The belt looks fab. It gets my thumbs up for sure.

The cobalt cardi looks wonderful and I like it with black. This cardi is brighter in the flesh, right? I also like the idea of it paired with a bright green or yellow. LOVE you in clams. You are a taller version of Patience!

Cobalt and black are two of my favorite colors, and I think pairing it with white keeps it crisp.

I think you look great in the belt, both the loose and tighter fitting top.

Angie, yes, the color is a lot brighter in person, even their web site doesn't quite show it right. Nicole, I really like it with black too - it looks very rich and I accidentally discovered it when it was next to something black in my closet.

One more vote for you leaving the house with the belt on Marianne to see how it feels or how long you last outside! And hard to see colors accurately in the photo but seems like a lighter color for the cami would help the outfit pop a bit more.

I love the look with the belt. You should definitely wear it. I would never have thought to put black with cobalt. Hum.....You girls have great ideas!
