Opinions on a Few Items, Please

Hi Everyone!

I have three things I'd love to get all your opinions on. The two jackets I have had for a couple of years, and I haven't worn them much because I feel that something is "off" about them but I'm not sure what. I'd like to either confirm my feelings, or if you all thing I'm crazy, I'd like to hear that too.

1. Orange J. Crew tweed jacket

This was pre-YLF. The sleeves on this are definitely too long, and I think the collar is too tall for me, but I'd love to hear what you guys think.

I have wanted a cheetah jacket for a long time, and I saw this one online and ordered it. I really like it, it's faux fur, but for some reason I feel kind of hulking in it, like it emphasized my shoulders a lot, and not in a good way. I'd love to just be able to throw it on with jeans and a knit or woven top (a nicer one than in the photo).

Ever since Angie blogged about a faux fur vest, I've really wanted one. I really wanted a collarless, shaggy version that was more brown and grey mottled, but all the ones I've tried on have completely overwhelmed me. It's instant "Clan of the Cave Bear," not chic at all. I guess since this isn't *exactly* what I had in mind, I'm unsure of it, whether it is funky enough, or whether it's more on the conservative, boring side. Normally, I would pair it with a black turtleneck, or a black, elbow sleeve, scoop neck dress that I have. If you all think I should keep it, I would have it taken in around the waist, since it's kind of boxy right now.

Ana, I really like the tweed jacket a lot. Definitely keep.

The cheetah print jacket, I'm kind of on the fence. Did you post a outfit with it at some point? If you did, I seem to be remembering that it was a killer outfit, so I'm wondering if I just feel less good about it now because you haven't styled it much in this photo. Does that make sense? However, if you just don't feel good when you wear it, I can understand how just that is not going to make it work.

The faux fur jacket I'm not crazy about. The cut reminds me of a polar fleece vest. But again it could be the styling. Plus I saw you in person in that Zara vest which was killer.

Patience, I like that vest at Zara a lot. I wasn't sure about the length, because it was so long, I wasn't sure it would work with jeans and a dress or skirt, but I guess I could get it hemmed if I wanted.

I think the orange tweed jacket is very flattering and the color is great for you. Could the collar be folded down or altered? Otherwise, I would starch it to make sure it doesn't get floppy.

I'm not crazy about the cheetah print jacket for the reasons you mention. I think it has something to do with the way it's lighter at the sides and darker in the middle - if only that would have been reversed it might look less boxy. But it might look different with a darker top - that white is a lot of contrast.

I actually like the fur vest on you, but then again, I can't imagine a fur vest being "conservative."

The orange jacket looks great. The collar is not ideal, but it's not problematic at all IMO.
The cheetah jacket - I really like the idea on you, but for some reason I see it more with a skirt outfit. I am not sure it would be as versatile as you are describing, but I am sure you can put together some killer outfits with it. The fit seems good, although a bit boxy, and it might be because of the material.
I actually really like the fur vest on you (disclaimer - I am not a fan in general). It looks very lady-like, as far as fur vests go

I'm not loving the cheetah print though. The coloring seems off or something. But like Patience said, perhaps with some styling it might really rock.
The vest seems a bit bland with that white shirt, but with some color as you described it might have much more personality.

I love the orange jacket! The cut is really cute, and I don't think the collar is too big. Great color.

I agree with queenie regarding the cheetah jacket -- the color washes you out.

The vest as styled is kind of ok, but I think you could spice it up, depending on what you wore with it.

Ana, the orange jacket is GREAT. Start a separate thread on how we can funk-fy the look of the garment. It needs a little doctoring to become “Ana-style-approved” :0)

Love the retro cheetah jacket! The collar works. It needs a straight black sheath dress, textured hose, black booties and a red clutch. Keep! (What might be making you feel “hulky” is the wide width of the sleeves. You’d feel daintier if they were cut slimmer in the true retro sense).

The plush body warmer is not Ana-style-approved. This item needs to be shaggy and edgy, not teddybear-like. Does that make sense? Pass on sweet pea.

I just wanted to echo what Angie has said about the cheetah jacket, when I first opened the link I thought about how Kate Moss wears the look. Always with black and a smudge of eyeliner.

Thanks for your opinions, ladies. What you all say makes sense. I will start a separate thread for the orange jacket and have it and the cheetah print jacket altered, if need be. I'll take the vest back and keep looking for a shaggier version without a collar.

LOVE the jacket. on the fence about the others, but i can't tell how much of that is personal bias vs actual style advice.

I'm not a shaggy vest fan personally, but this one doesn't look like a shaggy vest to me. It looks like something one might wear when observing penguins in Antarctica. Not a fashion item, but an essential item. I also feel that it makes you look bigger than you really are, but I feel that way about "regular" shaggy vests too, so I guess that's just my personal issue with them.

I wonder if you could get the cheetah jacket sleeves shortened, or would that make it impractical? With jackets of that shape, I tend to think a half sleeve looks best. But maybe if the sleeves are taken in it will have the same effect.

Orange jacket is perfect.

Ana - love the first jacket - definite keeper. I was going to say pass on the cheetah jacket too but when I read Angie's description of how to Killer-fy it - I am drooling. Would love to see pix. The vest is not the best.

Ana - that orange jacket is perfection! I am not crazy about the vest at all but I really like Angie's styling suggestions for the cheetah jacket. The orange jacket is gorgeous on you, really!
