I am attending a wedding this Saturday in NJ. The weather forecast says is is going to be EXTREMELY hot (high of 102). I think both the ceremony and the reception are going to be primarily indoors although I do not know if the chapel has AC.

Anyway, here is a dress that I thought I might wear, although I think it may have an issue with fit. This is a vintage silk dress from the 80's (it had enormous shoulder pads which I removed) that was given to me by my mom. The color is a royal blue, with undertones of purple. I love the draping, shape, and fabric. However, I just noticed when trying it on that the fit at the back is a bit odd; I think there is too much length. Is this a dealbreaker should I get this altered or just consign it? In which case, I'd have to choose something else for this wedding... likely a black dress.

If the back thing is not a dealbreaker, I've also tried it with two different pairs of shoes (nude and grey) and two different necklaces (medium length silver and long gold pendant). I have other necklaces as well, just wanted to try the different lengths. And, finally, the last photo is my three evening bags, none of which are really doing it for me with this dress. Which would you choose?

ETA: question for the sewing experts. I am considering sewing the button placket on the back shut. I can get it on with undoing only the top button and the zipper/hook below the waist. Will sewing the button placket shut help smooth out the back?
