Ombre denim--what do you think?

http://www.tobi.com/editorial/.....chl=eml254

I anticipate being alone on this, but I like it. I would prefer it in a straight leg version rather than skinnies though. I can only wear skinnies with tunics and/or boots, which would cover up too much of the gradation. I also wish the dark shading came down a little further, breaking at the knee instead of 3/4 down the thigh. If I found the right pair, I would definitely try it.

For myself no. For you at your age, with your lifestyle and those long legs I say YAY!!!

They are really interesting without looking cheap in the way the lace or ripped jeans look.

I think slender thighs are a must for this look!

It's not for me. I agree that slender thighs are a must for the look. I'm also thinking that with the lighter part on the calf, slender calves are important, too. I have neither.

I have to agree that they are not to me. I would leave them to the younger crowd. I also think you need long, skinny legs to look good. I really diid not think they flattered even Rachel Bilson -- and she looks good in everything.

I think RB is just wearing them in a really unflattering way. Why does she have them rolled around her ankles? And with oxfords? Her legs look about 3" long.

And again, they're super tapered skinnies. Skinnies just aren't flattering with a normal length top. Just 1 or 2 more inches would have helped. By making them straight legs, there would be no need to have slim calves. You probably do need long legs so the color doesn't break the leg line too much, but I don't necessarily agree that you need slim thighs.

They look fabulous on Sienna Miller, but awful on Rachel Bilson. Strange. I actually think you need to be really skinny and long in the leg to wear these, but not necessarily tall – SM isn’t tall.

I agree it's a difficult look to pull.

They are not very flattering and I'm very picky with clothes! Everything must be perfect!

I maintain that the fact that they look awful on RB has nothing to do with the coloring but the way they are being worn.

OK, I'm going to try and find these in a store so I can try them on and prove all of you wrong :)

I like them! Couldn't wear them myself (think I am too old) but they could definitely work on someone your age, Maya! I agree with you though - they need to be worn with a longer top (especially if you have the semblance of hips like RB) but then you wouldn't really get the true effect of the ombre, would you?

I love them on SM! I think RB is illustrating why ankle length pants are leg shortening-- she has them rolled up. Considering the bottom two pictures, I'm wondering if the ombre effect emphasizes the thighs (it kind of looks like shorts, but not) so I'm also thinking you need skinny thighs to pull them off. I hope you do prove us wrong, Maya. I'd wear them if I'm wrong about the thigh thing.
