Not sure about the belt and is this just too short?

Just wondering if I could have an opinion on how well this belt goes with this shirt dress. I have only just started trying to get a feel for wearing belts, I am really not sure. Also the dress itself. To be honest I think it is a bit short to wear as a dress. I put the thick tights on to make it look less scandalous but I am just not sure.

I am very grateful for advice!

Yes, this looks more like a tunic to me. I would probably wear this one over skinny jeans or leans. You have great legs! I like the placement and the width of the belt, but I'm not personally a fan of the white on all that black.

Would love to see pictures of the tunic with your skinny jeans. I think a belt is still a go, but it would be great it you had a metallic or colored belt. Of course, maybe the white would work if you swapped out for some different shoes?
And where is that tunic from? I've been hankering for something similar and been striking out.

Cute. I would try a darker belt over skinnies. Maybe try a dark purple or wine colored belt.

What Astrid said. You may be happier with a belt that has less contrast in color with the tunic..black, pewter, brown, dark red or green.

I am agreeing with the others. Because you are blessed with long legs, the dress looks too short. The belt looks well-placed, but contrasts a lot with the dress/tunic. I bet this would look really cute with skinnies.

I don't mind the color of the belt at all. However I do think you need to have a non-black, muted neutral somewhere else in the outfit to make it more pulled together. I.e. congac or mushroom-colored shoes or boots, an olive green utility jacket or a scarf in muted colors.

Agree that this is too short as a dress...possibly because you legs are soooo long! On my short stubs it'd probably look normal. LOL...

Agree with the others about the length. The belt placement looks good to me! I think the white would work if you added another element or two in white (like a necklace, watch/bracelet, earrings, scarf, etc.) This would also look really cute with jeans, cognac belt, cognac boots

You might also want to try a wide hipslung belt with the skinnies? Have fun!
