Nordstrom alteration - not great

I got a blue drapey button front in Tampa Nordie's a few weeks back. Brought it back in to get the buttons on the cuffs moved in. The cuff was falling down over my hand. The lady suggested shortening the sleeves as well. Fine.
Shirt was mailed out when it was ready (we live an hour and a half away from the store).
The buttons are not at the same spot on both sleeves. One sleeve they are in, near the body, the other sleeve they face back behind me. Maybe 1/2 inch off from each other when compared. This cost the BF $20 on his card/account. I'm not sure what to do. Do I ask it be fixed again? They did explain that they no longer do outside alterations in case an item is ruined, they cannot replace it with stock. This leads me to believe this can be replaced with the available stock. What would you do? Not sweat the small stuff, or demand you get what you paid for? Haven't mentioned it to the BF yet until I decide.

I say take it in and at least make them aware of this. They offer alterations as a service, and they should be aware of problems like this, and they should stand behind the people they hire to do this work, even if that person is no longer there. Twenty bucks is twenty bucks. At the very least, they should fix this for you. And Nordstrom's is known for their customer service, they can move a button where it's supposed to be.

I cannot imagine Nordstroms would not make this right. Call them.

LBD, the trouble is being 1.5 hours away. Just 'taking it in' to them is $7 on the toll road both ways plus the gas!

We got to Nordie's when we are already heading to Tampa for something else (this last time was a concert).

EDIT: I will call and maybe ask if I can mail it in. Maybe they can re-align the buttons without me there?

Call customer service and have them make a plan to repair/replace it. They should stand behind their work...even alterations.

Would you consider realigning the buttons yourself? That might be the least painful.

Call them. I wouldn't be surprised if they mailed you a return label, and I'll bet that can realign the buttons without you there.

I think they will stand behind their work...it's just the cost/inconvenience to you. That should have been an easy fix.
I'm leery to have anything altered at my Nordies. (HOuston) One of my first premium denim purchases was the COH Avas. I told the alterations person that I wanted plenty of scrunch. They came back too short to even wear with flats. At that time I was too timid to go back. Everytime I see those jeans, I wish I had. (Coincidentally, they're going to resale today.)
More recently, I had the sleeves shortened on my Theory Lanai jacket. It took 3 times to get the sleeves the same length. Frustration!
I bought the Burberry peacoat at NAS and I still haven't taken it in to have the sleeves shortened. I need to have Nordies do it to be protected if they ruin it. However, I don't have confidence that it will be done properly. I love the coat and want it to work..I believe it's sold out so no replacing if ruined.
Sorry to turn this into a rant, but I hear your frustration. Nordies is so good in so many areas and I wish the alterations department was included in that.
As a solution, do you have a local tailor that could move the button for you? I wouldn't think it would cost more that $5..less than the toll back to Nordies. Do let Nordies know, they can't fix things (shoddy alterations) they don't know about.

Jay, I had my oh so coveted Vince leather/suede pants done by them, and I was very nervous. But they did an outstanding job. This was a different lady, but still . . .
I will call. I wish I was handy enough to move buttons, but alas, I can only do so much hand stitching and even then it's never nearly as good as professionals.
I did have some BAD alterations done here locally and have now just gone with less than ideal fit rather than pay for them to ruin my things! I am holding out on some items until return to Tahoe where I have better luck (but not always ideal there either, unfortunately).

It sounds like you have had bad luck finding good local tailors. You probably thought of this already, since I am a dinosaur when it comes to anything digital/technological but Yelp may have some local Tailor listings that you haven't tried?

Oh no....that's too bad. I hate all the inconvenience, yeah...it is hard living away from the centre. No question.
